Either I won't be buying the Elisaveti, or I'll be getting a bonus when I do...

What do you mean "bonus"?

Probably either: A) A few dozen Commies stowed away aboard or B) Reward money for said Commies.

As the 100 men of the Communists gallopped into town, there was nary a attempt to stop them. Two soliders woke up, disturbed by the noise. The sight of the Stars and Stickle was the last thing they saw. A burst from the Mondragon made sure of it.

As they galloped through town, they could see something in the distance. As they got closer, Lieutentant Josef Stalin gasped. It was the flagship of the Romanian fleet, the Elisaveti. It suddenly dawned on him that this was the ship that they would be hijacking. He gasped in amazement.

When they reached the edge of the naval base, a machine gun opened up on them. As he ducked, Lenin threw a Mills bomb at the machine gun outpost. It blew up, taking the life of the two Communists next to it. The machine gun had also taken the lifes of 3 others, including Josef Stalin. After a moment of shock, the rest of the communists dismounted and charged at the Elisaveti. The only thing in their way was 9 sailor and 1 officer. They were all either shot, or, in the case of the officer, mounted in front of the aft 50 pounder and shot in the gut.

As the Elisaveti left the harbor, the sailors on shore watched in a amazed trance as the Star and Stickle was raised. The commanding officer of the Elisaveti, Captain Bureckia, swore revenge on these evil men, who had ruined his and his countries honor.

They what!?

Your Majesty, it appears a group of communists that have been ravaging the countryside decided to leave the country. They headed for the port of Varna, doubtlessly hoping that a ship was there in the naval port. By pure luck, our flagship, the Elisaveti sailed into port at about that time on its way to defend our new base at Masarhi Island. The Communists apparently broke through the lines of our military and marines and hijacked the Elisaveti after most of the sailors left the ship. The hoisted a new flag, which eyewitnesses are calling the Star and Stickle, and left the port.

How did they break through our defenses. How is this possible?

The first part of the defense was my responsibility, and I take full blame for it. We have a regiment of the reserves based in that town, but they only have 50 men on duty at a time. The communists came in from the north, bypassing our command station. Two men were on duty, and were both found dead.

(gruffly) That needs improvement. And Admiral?

Their attack into the harbor was met by a mounted machine gun post. The machine gun post was destroyed by a new weapon, made by lighting gasoline in a bottle and throwing it at a target. The machine gun took out 5 men before it was destroyed. The good news in this situation is that the crew is about 20 men below what is needed to sail the ship. We also killed their third in command and found the dead men's weapons.

Really, and what are they?

Three men had a M1898 Mauser, one had a SIG Mondragon, and one had a Mauser C-96
(Gasp)

What is it, General

Those weapons are the standardized weapons of the Bavarian Army. The SIG is made in New Zion, New Switzerland, and Bavaria, but the pistol and rifle are only available in Bavaria. We only have 10 of each of the rifle and pistol, and that's through our agents. The SIG we have more of, but only due to the New Swiss. If they have 90 or so of the rifles, that either means that...

They have spies in Bavaria, they raided a Bavaria weapons plant, or Bavaria trying to destroy us!

Ok, then. Minister, I want you to contact the Russians, Greeks, Austrians, Ukrainians, Ottomans, Italians, and the French. Tell them that our flagship was hijacked due to Communists and we need help. Also ask the Ottomans to close the Dardallens. General, I want a corps redeployed near the coast, and strengthen harbor security. Admiral, deploy the fleet to search. Have our fastest ship move at max speed to the Dardallens, to wait for an attempted escape. Oh, and Minister, ask the French and Swiss how fast they can get their ships here, especially the submarine. Am I understood?

Yes, sir!
Understood.
Aye Aye, your majesty.

Good, dismissed.

Well a good way to prove you're NOT funding the Commies would be to use Augsburg and Baden-Baden to find Elisaveti and capture her.

Technically, Bavaria doesn't know of the Rumanian concerns.  Even if we did, we'd point to Mauser & SIG's willingness to sell arms to pretty much anyone and wonder why they thought there was an official link. Lastly, if this is "current day" ...the two cruisers would be in drydock or fitting out, as in HY2/1916, the Bavarians have been busily refitting all 20 combat vessels of their mighty navy.

A telegraph in responce to the Romanian call for assistance

Glorious France does not have any vessels close enough to intercept a hijacked Romanian warship before it enters the Bosporus.

It is entirely possible to send a land based security force to avoid such mishaps in the future.

Should I dispatch a few ships? And make a visit?  Nah, unless Galpoux commands me, I'll let it slip. If the Ottomans dispatch the 5 ex-Fleurus II sloops they got, that 1300 tons slowboat is toast. Oh, yes, what reminds me, I need to ask where Yavus is.
And get a few of our engineers on her.  Lets get Monsieur Grange to that.

An even better way would be for the Romanians to take a look on the situation from a realistic perspective. Basically ask who would benefit from disturbance in Romania? And would any such country benefit from blaming Bavaria...
