That rule is needed to balance with the too high engine weights. Allowing 24kts only let people to put ahistorical amount of armor on a small ship - much less spent on the machinery. Like this.
Belt covers the whole machinery spaces - it is not totally below the waterline as SS2 believes, but up to the main (in this case armored) deck.

what about Korpen's 35 knot TB?

Just wondering if it is legal as length to beam and Block coefficient are out of the normal range.

I think ships should be built with block co-effiicents of 0.40 or higher, and length:beam ratios of twelve or less.

That said, I don't think Korpen got around to actually building those wacky TBs.

For a general service ship i agree with that.

Not yet anyway... ;)

The reason I offered it for sale was to see if I could get someone else to finance the trial of such a ship. It is after all not a ship for general service but rather a design that give up everything (life span, firepower, durability, accommodations) in order to be the fastest thing afloat. Its combat value is doubtfull to say the least.

Silly Question but You can only roll money and BP over from H1 to H2 in a turn correct....??????  At the end of the year anything not spend is wasted correct...????

Good now how to not waste BP.... Never mind will worry about that once I catch up.....

You can convert it to finished materials, such as ammo, steel, armor plate, etc..

Yes. But waste of BP very rarely hapens. Simply lay down something.

Unfortuently I think I have BP but no cash.... silly maintenance cost what the soldiers expect to get paid on time.... ;D

Navalism is not Earth. Its history is not ours, and there is no reason the two should be shackled to each other. Your comments about historical designs have been and are based on an entirely false parallel. There is, I freely admit, a need to restrain people from attempting to perform end runs based on hindsight - such as hurrying the introduction of aircraft carriers before airplanes make them viable - but trying to restrain genuinely 'native' doctrines and designs because they don't mirror the real world is... silly.

Charles, my suggestion for your spare BP is to spend it on railways, increasing the connection between your various cities and ports. True, that costs more than shipbuilding, but it can come out of your civilian budget and thus minimize the squeeze in the military one.

At least, that's what I'm doing with mine. ^_^

I looked at doing exactly that -  I have plans for a railroad from Tunis to Tripoli, From Tripoli down to Sirt, and from Sirt on around to Bengahzi and then on to Tobruk.  Part of this I can easily see comming out of Civilian side of the economy but only slowly.  I mean I dont think there is such a railroad even today for purely economic reasones.   The part of this railroad from Tobruk to my new border with Egypt I think will have to be paid for out of military budget as its sole purpose is to facilitate the supply of the troops on that border.

However we are discussing a 1000Km or so or railroad track and its not going to get laid down in a single year its going to take a good long time.

Ahoj!
There is a RR from Tunis almost to the Libyan border. Italy got around developing Libya in the 1920, and was piss poor. And by that date trucks were quite widespread. With earlier colonisation of the area, I see no problem with a 2'6" or 3'3" line from Tunis to Benghazi or even to Tobruk.  If you declare you have the TT line, it's fine with me.

Yes, the Via Vitoria line from Tobruk to the border would be purely military - use 2" track.

Since I was likely to leave at least 1 Legion in the area I was thinking about double lining it with 1 Meter Track.   All Told about 200 Km of rail line.  I mean when it comes to moving large amounts of supplies, including water for 50,000 Men and animals over kill really is not inappropriate.
