There will probably be more coming, as I try to draft my 1/1912 report, but here's an opener:

Given no geographic changes, does population ever change? I see that Corinthian had an item in the budget for a "Population Growth Fund" but I don't know what it's effect might be.

Thanks!

Borys

Ahoj!

The present unwritte rule is that population increaes 2% every 2 years.
You are due for this in 1/1912.

Writting nice stories* and/or spending money on population growth sometimes leads moderators to award bonus growth figures.

* not necessarily explicit

Yes population does grow, on avarage we have had pop growth of 2% every other year. This is usally handled by mods who simply tell you how much it growths.

Carthaginian had the CSA promoting larger families, and to a degree bringing in immigrants.  Consequently, figure that the population is 2.5% larger than that reported in his 2/11 report.

Ok, I'll use that new value in the report I'm working on now.

I'm also a little bit confused by research:

Carthaginian had this in the last report:

1905 Cutting Edge ICE     $0.50 1st half
Historical 1914 aircrafts     $0.50 1st half
Cutting Edge Shells     $1.00 3rd half
Primative ASW (1910)     $1.00 3rd half
Cutting Edge Cruisers     $1.00 3rd half
Cutting Edge Subs     $1.00 3rd half
Cutting Edge Reserves     $1.00 3rd half
15"/L40, 2000-pounder     $0.50 3rd half
2.75"/L50 10-pounder     $0.25 3rd half
1.5"/30 Maxim AA     $0.25 1st half
15"/L40 twin Turret     $0.50 1st half

So do I just increment all those 1sts and 3rds to 2nds and 4ths?

How do you know when research has been achieved? Does a mod tell you?

Pretty much. :)

Usally, yes.
The ones that fractions are paid for (0,25 & 0,5) is integration of tech from someone else, and are always finished after one year (two half years).
Otherwise there is a %  for success, 20% after 4 halfs, 60% after five and 100% after six halfs.

You have to PM the mods asking for 20% and 60%.
Using "Roll me" as the the subject line gives you some free wit from the mods :D

BTW - the 1$ 3rd HY in the quoted budget looks like a typo - should be 1,5$.
So make it 2$ 4th HY.

Turrets take as many HYs to research as they have barrels - so 2 HY for a twin, and 3HY for a triple, etc.

OK - I got a bit mixed up myself. For a moment there I thought research was 0,5$ per HY, and Carthaginian was givving cumulative costs. Sorry for the confusion.

Ok, so if I get all this, my research should look like this in the next report:?

1905 Cutting Edge ICE     $0.50 2nd half
Historical 1914 aircrafts     $0.50 2nd half
Cutting Edge Shells     $1.00 4th half
Primative ASW (1910)     $1.00 4th half
Cutting Edge Cruisers     $1.00 4th half
Cutting Edge Subs     $1.00 4th half
Cutting Edge Reserves     $1.00 4th half
15"/L40, 2000-pounder     completed?
2.75"/L50 10-pounder     completed?
1.5"/30 Maxim AA     $0.25 2nd half
15"/L40 twin Turret     $0.50 2nd half

CSA relations with the Habsburgs.

These can be said to be respectful.

The CSA shares the Habsburg's conservatism, and is the second most respected republic (Austria holds most republics in low esteem). Religiousness of the CSA, even if migsuided (mostly non-episcopalian Protestant) is heartwarming, as is the dislike of Muslims.

There has been exchange of miltary know-how in the past, and the CSA has helped the Habsburgs buy selling Torpedo-Boats at cost.

So, relations are good, even if not exactly "hawt" :)

For the Habsburgs maintaining cordial realtions with the CSA is sligthly complicated by similarly good relations with Gra Colombia. Gra Colombia and the CSA are in the same sandbox and are eying one another with some mistrust. Habsburgs want to be friends with both.

CSA relations with France were very good, but due an introvert periode in the French politics, it's not clear how good the relations are atm.

That's ok. If the President gets his way over the next few years, the CSA plans to have it's navy spend a bit more time overseas than it does now. France will sure be one of the first nations visited. :)

Hello,

I have been confused about the $0.5 for techs in various reports.

Researching tech costs $1 per half.
Integrating costs $0.25 per half.
large guns cost $0.5 per half.
small guns cost $0.25 per half.

So these should be $1 if new, or $0.25 if integrating:
1905 Cutting Edge ICE     $0.50 2nd half
Historical 1914 aircrafts     $0.50 2nd half

Is that right?
