BLACK PEARL CAPTURED

Notorious Pirate and Outlaw Jack Sparrow was captured yesterday after a 4 hour running battle with ships of the Indian Ocean Squadron.  It is reported that the cruisers Hercules, and Venti operating in anti piracy patrol made sight of the Black Pearl just after the noon hour on March 15th, they then used their superior speed to run the notorious pirate ship down, when sparrow realized he could not outrun his pursuers, he turned to fight them, however not realizing he was facing a pair of modern armored cruisers due to their speed.
According to sources in the Admiralty, the actual fight was very short, the pearl being no match for the superior firepower and speed of our newest cruisers.

The Pearl was brought into Mogadishu with Sparrow in irons on board Hercules.  The once Fearsome Pirate was little more than a broken and bitter man according to sources.  The pearl was found to be in poor repair according to the same sources this was attributed to the fact that sparrow was basically abandoned by his former Swiss allies, Making it very difficult for him to make port for needed maintenance and repairs.

More to follow as details become available.

Is this true?  Is that pirate cought?
If so, lets ask for an extradition. He has to stand trial for his involvement in the sinking of our 2 cruisers Terrible and Indomptable.

That we can do Premier.

Diplomatical message to Rome

QuoteHonored members of the Roman Senate,

On behalf of the Glorious French Empire ,I minister Capet, ask for the extradition of the Pirate Sparrow, callname Jack. Who was recently captured by the courageous Italian Navy.

His crimes against all law abiding citizens over the world cannot be described in a dozen books, and France won't even try to do so. But there is 1 crime he has to stand for, as this is recorded and recognized by 100's of people.
The participation in the capture and looting of the Caliphate-Firenj convoy and the sinking of the 2 large cruisers Indomptable and Terrible by official New Swiss naval units.

Of course Glorious France doesn't want to interfere with the lawfull procedings concerning this inhuman pirate, but respectfully asks for an equal chance to giver this pirate an honnest trial in France.

Minister Capet of Foreign Affairs,

On behalf of the French Gouvernement.

There is always another.

Also, in some cases, one man's villian is another man's hero.  Usually for the same reasons.

I wonder if Walter might decide to try to extradite him to NS (hint, hint), after all NS is probably the only country that can conclusively prove his guilt on piracy charges (unlike traffiking in stolen goods)!

Trafficking in stolen goods can put him away for 10 years, at least, since I'm pretty sure that he is guilty of at least one count of Grand Theft, and is a habitual offender (pirate ;)). This would be more than sufficient to 'stall' until proof of greater charges can be found. Also, if he receives consecutive sentences for any crimes he is found guilty of rather than concurrent sentences, you could stretch this out a great deal... three counts of Grand Theft would be sufficient to put him away till his mid-60's... well past a pirate's prime. ;D

He's definately getting 10 years. He's also definately guilty of Grand Theft but that is not so easy to prove, since what proof exists is in NS hands. Course he is also a pretty good trickster with a habit of turning his enemies against each other. If that doesn't work he might trick his way into freedom by using technicalities, or getting someone to spring him lose, or feigning death and rowing away on his casket...

Then again the Italians might have caught the wrong guy.

Acording to Very Reliable Sources, the ship in question was beyond a Doubt the Black Pearl.  Which leads to the Safe asumption that the man claiming to be Jack Sparrow a Privatear in Employ of the Swiss (Sparrow was never shy about admiting who he was after all) would most definetly be the man in question.  Of course it helps when he exactly matches the description posted all over the teritories I had just taken over from France...

Then there is the matter of the Trial, he was after all guilty of Refusing to heave to for a Contraband search and Firing on a Military Vessel clearly sailing under the Flag of Italia.  For the later crime alone he could recive the death sentence or at the Minimum 50 years behind bars in someplace interesting like the coal mines of Italian South Africa, where Bodies arnt cast out to sea they are burned.  As he is curently in the Custody of agents Loyal to Gaius Servilius Glauicia, i find him buying his way out or turning them against each other to be not simply unlikley but Imposible. these men live for one purpose only and that is to Die in service to the Emperor.

Most intriguing...

Yes, but those ways don't really allow for nice, showy trials afterward.

Desertfox

He is Jack Sparrow, you don't need the Columbians to get him to talk, you need them to get him to STOP talking!

The Italians should have known better. Trying to stop a Swiss flaged ship on the open ocean is a sure way to get fired at.

I just find it interesting. If the Swiss try to stop and search someone for contraband, the Swiss get blamed for piracy. It it's the other way around, the Swiss still get blamed for piracy...

That can be arranged, too.  But that doesn't allow for nice, showy trials afterward, either.

Well, the difference is that the other nations seize ships involved in piracy or carring contrabaned.
The Swiss, on the other hand, seize ships that are not and thus commit piracy themselves.

Again Desertfox, it's all about PR.
And honnestly, yours is a bit on the south side of adequate.
Like you took over Sadams PR ministry or so.

On the other hand, there is no other country that sunk 2 French Heavy protected cruisers during such an inspection.

The Rock Doctor

Saddam's propaganda minister was very entertaining, if not wholly effective.

I won't join in any arguing on the causes of the Second Pacific War, except to suggest that nobody entered that war because of a (supposed) act of piracy.  It was events afterward that caused the actual war.  Anywho...

An official Swiss response would be interesting, especially if Black Pearl was indeed flying Swiss colors at the time of her engagement.
