Very nice! Might want to add a touch more armor for river patrol duties though...

Walter

I'm not sure but do you think it is shallow enough for river patrol duties? Of the four gunboat designs I made for the startup, the G-7 class is the deepest one, but is still only 2 meters deep.

Regarding armor, I simmed all 4 of them in such a way that their hulls are armored over the entire length and height of the ship and deck armor and CT armor. You never know what kind of crazy gun-wielding individuals are waiting for your boats along the banks of the rivers and canals. Thinking of it now, maybe I should have used upper armor to sim armor on the superstructure of those gunboats. :)

One thing I can say for certain is that the Block coefficient is way too low.
Design guidelines say:
Quote0.38 is the absolute minimum.  Coefficients should be reflective of the size and speed of the vessel.
I would think that it would probably be more correct to use a BC around 0.6. It is a gunboat after all, not a cruiser or a destroyer or a torpedoboat... but that is my opinion.

Darman

I knew I forgot to double-check something and that something was block coefficient.  Thanks for pointing that out!  These aren't intended for rivers, their intended to be stationed in my overseas colonies in the pacific and Indonesian territories.

The Rock Doctor

This ship would be doing a lot of flag-waving, policing, and patrol work - not much, if any, ship-to-ship combat.  Consider dropping the speed down to ~15 knots - which is still plenty for catching pirates, smugglers, and slavers - and using the weight savings for command facilities and a detachment of marines.

Agree with Walter on the BC.  I'll add that if you can lop 7 metres off the length, it makes your overseas infrastructure needs simpler.

Darman

Does this look a little better?

Two things...
Quote15 - 0.50" / 12.7 mm 45.0 cal guns - 0.06lbs / 0.03kg shells, 150 per gun

      2 raised mounts
1 x Single mount on centreline, aft deck centre

1) I assume that the single mount should be Quintuple as well.
2) I like a few more rounds than than for the MG.

Well, 150 rounds per gun for something like a Machinegun makes for a really short show. 2500 is probably a bit over the top but it will keep the natives interested in the show while the British soldiers capture their lands behind their backs. :)

The Rock Doctor

Yeah, that seems like a fairly useful vessel to me.

I think I usually assign 15,000 rounds per machine gun, but I have no idea whether that's reasonable or complete overkill.

Walter

I think it is more an indication that the Ottomans are trigger-happy.

Looking at the Chinese stuff quickly, I have either 7000 or 10000 rounds per 11mm mount (= 10 barrels).

Darman

....so add a few thousand more rounds for my guns.....
