I'd call her over-armored for the time period.

More miscellaneous weight might be wise if you plan to have these in service when Mk 1 Fire Control comes in.

What?  We're still waiting for the Mk 1 Visual Intake Organ to be invented?

And armor is definitely something worth having as a ship ages.

17" KC is a little extreme, especially with how new the tech is. IIRC, the max you can hope to have any consistent quality is about 13", 15" if you are willing to burn through lots of rejects (not that we keep track of that)

Edited to pare down the main and end belts while increasing upper belt by an inch and decreasing the range 1,000nm but upping the max speed to 19 knots

The Rock Doctor

I still think the deck armor is an inch or so heavier than it should be for the time period - but the belt looks okay.

So it's A-B-Y, with B non-super-firing?

Freeboard's good; there's a temptation to go with lower freeboards because the low speeds still allow for good seakeeping.  But six metres will be really helpful if they're rounding South America or watching Germans in the North Sea.

Darman

Correct, B should be non-superfiring.  The only way you can have a super-firing turret is if its intermediate or secondary, under the current techs

Walter

Helpful freeboard??

Who cares about helpful freeboard!! ;D

Not to rain on the parade to hard, but I don't think the ABY layout is technically leagle. Tech does explicitly state AQY. Now, I am going to talk to Logi and see how he feels, so this is not a legality smackdown, but could we see an AQY version?

The early battlecruiser's kind of an interesting idea.

Jefgte

Start BC story early is a good idea.
I note that, in 1902, it's a smaller BC than historical.

I was bored and decided to swap out armor for speed, just to see where it gets me.  I only added 2 knots top speed though.  I don't know if that's worth it or not.
