The Ambassador of New Switzerland to the Empire of Iberia is requested to a meeting at the Imperial Palace in Madrid.

The ambassador is meet by Jaime, Duke of Madrid, Prince of Asturias and Heir to the throne.  The Prime Minister of Iberia is also in attendance. 

"Sir I am grateful you were able to answer my father's request.  We can dispense with formality, have a seat we have much to talk about."  The prince waves to a comfortable chair.



"I will get straight to the heart of the mater Mr. Ambassador.  I have a great many friends in Vienna.  Friends in important places, friends who it seams are less than please to see the degree that Vienna has attached itself to...  let me think how did they put it...  Ah yes, 'Heretical Hohenzollern Upstarts and the Pagan Middle Kingdom'" 

Jaime pauses to sip his cognac, "To be blunt Mr. Ambassador I expect that very shortly your nation is going to be actively at war with the Hapsburg Empire and several of their allies."

"As I see it Mr. Ambassador you have 2 choices, your government can refuse the following offer I am about to give you or be defeated as several of your neighbors attack your nation."  Jaime then hands over a slip of paper to the ambassador.

"Any Christian People or Ruler can only be heart broken when nations are plunged into war.  In the spirit of Christian charity the Empire of Iberia offers its good offices for the negotiation of a final and lasting peace between the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the New Swiss Republic.

"Your Majesty that is to be expected, it would not be the first time that certain countries have try to take advantage of war to stab us in the back. We have plans towards that eventuality, and have enough forces present to not only defend but defeat such an attack.

Twice before in the last 10 years we have tried negotiations, twice they only lead to dastardly attacks and bloodshed. However in the spirit of Christian Charity we shall give diplomacy one more chance. We accpet you offer. We shall negotiate."

No idea as its not clear at what point the game is at.

Also it would Your Highness or Imperial Highness, Majesty is for a King or Emperor.  Jamie wouldn't mind the slip but you can bet the PM would have been outraged.

"My father will be pleased to hear this news Excellency, most please in deed.   We shall contact the Dutch Ambassador and hopefully put this dreadful business behind all of our peoples." Jamie stands and escorts the Ambassador out unless there is more to said.

Date: End of  October. Some military actions already happened.

The Dutch Ambassador is shortly afterword requested to come to the Palace in Madrid.  After they arrive they are escorted to a meeting with Jamie and the Prime Minister.

"Come in Excellency, do come in."  Jamie is clearly excited and a virtual bundle of energy.  "I have wonderful news the New Swiss Government has accepted my fathers offer of our nations Good Offices to try to end your war!"

Awaiting the dutch...

The Dutch have replied in private that they are willing to agree to our offer and they have provided us the terms they seeking.  We request the New Swiss provide us with the terms they are seeking.  In addition we suggest a cease-fire in place while talks are ongoing.

France applauds the Iberian efforts.

And just conducts business as usual.

"Your Highness, due to the nature of this war and the possibility of intervention by other powers, New Switzerland is unable to conduct a cease-fire at this time. It can only serve to strengthen the enemy. Our terms are as follows...( coming via PM)"

OK, there's some ceasefire talks going on. It should happen in November.
But no ceasefire the week following the Declaration of War. Wait at least until you get some battle results.
