Sadly enough, kind of close. Think that, but after it's gone through a meat grinder.

Why are we arguing about food again? :-X

People, you do NOT know Mexican food unless you have actually been to Mexico... or you get your mom to make you some

Came back 3 days ago.  ;D

My grandfather was born in Mexico, and he spent the majority of his life into the early 20's there. He made the best Mexican food in his time...

If we're talking regional food and drink, I simply must bring up a couple of other items.

First, what I had with my Turkey sandwich for lunch:

And what I bought to drink later:

If you've never heard of Terrapin, and you like hoppy beer, find some and try it.

Living in Belgium, the Flanders part, we have the best of Burgundian traditions coupled with the best beer brewers in the world. Foreigners sometimes think that every third house is a restaurant, that's how many we have. There's a "Frituur" (fries and stuff) on every street corner. Although they have lately been replaced by Kebab and Pita joints.
In our hometown we have a choice of reasonable restaurants but I would say that the Peking Wok is the easiest (self-service) and yummiest (you select only what you like), and besides.... it's an all-you-can-eat...
For some strange reason we always tend to befriend the owners of a restaurant we visit on a regular basis. Sometimes that yields unexpected delights. The most memorable happened before I met Mario: a local Chinese decided to surprise my Mama and I with roasted duck. He started roasting it 3 (!!!) days before the meal. It was legendary. The most succulent duck I've ever eaten.
But our hometown is renowned for it's speciality... horse steak. It's just about the most healthy and lean meat you can imagine, and has a distinct flavour all of its own.
I haven't even started on the beers yet, but give you my favourite one: Faro. It's a kind of Lambik. Which is a kind of Geuze. Which is ... sorry, difficult to explain. You'll have to taste it I'm afraid.

I have never had the privilege of hunting my own meat before, but hope that one day I will have the opportunity. Because I believe that we must respect our food, and how better to respect a creature you want to eat than by doing the killing yourself ?

Tonight I'm making my killer spaghetti. There will be meat. There will even be tomato sauce. But most important of all, it will have Spanish peppers. Yum.
