Happy new year

We are having some friends come over for an early evening get together.

Guinness

I'm planning on sucking face with my beautiful wife at Midnight on Jan 1, if she stays up that late, otherwise the next 4 days are football, football, football, pack up Xmas decor, football, football, laundry.

TexanCowboy

Guinness, not to bug you, but did you hear about Mike Leach? He just got fired.

Guinness

Yup. I've got the Worldwide Leader in Sports (tm) on right now.

The Rock Doctor

Holy crap, Jef, twenty family members there and we still have unclaimed NPCs here?  Get busy and recruit some of them!

I got no plans for New Years' Eve, except that I hope to be booted out of work a bit early.  Expect we'll be in bed by ten-ish.  Aren't I fun?

Idiot coach, "I thought he was faking his head injury so I told them to lock him up in a closet for a few hours."  Total moron!  Texas Tech is a big school send him to a neurologist to be looked at, odds are they have one on retainer since its a contact sport, and if he comes back negative have a long talk with the kid.  THEN run has ass ragged doing laps or something.  Many sports coaches have real tin god complexes

We elected to go out for new years eve.

Mum, Babs and me are going to our favorite restaurant, Peking Wok. It's the first time we do so there, so I cannot tell how it will be, but it's a lot of people and good, plentyfull food and drink.

TexanCowboy

It makes what happened at SMU about 10 years back seem minor by comparison. Really stupid of him to do, considering who his dad is. And this happened the day AFTER the concussion. And Tech definatly has a neurologist, they have a school of neurology there.

Maddox: Good for you! Honestly, I've only been to one bad Chinese restaurant, so I hope it will be good.

Logi

I would advise but I've never been to Peking Wok. That said, I have yet to step foot in a decent Chinese restaurant; the last good Chinese eateries I've been to were pushcart-styled and they were in China to begin with... they disappeared some ten years back.

Yes, go figure that the kid in the middle of this is the son of one of the guys in the middle of the SMU thing. Also, I thought the SMU incident was more like 15 years ago.

The NCAA gave SMU Football the death penalty starting in the 1987 season.

Logi, we're very well aware that the "Chinese" food we're getting over here has about as much connection to China as my Utilikilt has to a Scottish kilt.

But the food is good, the service great, the owner very amiable (the Dutch enthousiasme , but the typical oriental accent make a charming combination), the chairs comfy and the pricetag reasonable.

Logi

I'm very well aware of that, but I'm not asking for authentic Chinese food, I simply ask for a decent meal and I don't get that anymore. Perhaps I'm a bit more demanding on the tastebuds?

In the land of the McDonalds and Pizza hut, I can imagine that finding a good restaurant is becoming problematic.

But Belgium/Flanders carries on the Bourgondian tradition. Good and plentyfull food and drink (with over 800 kinds of different local beers, and about 2 dozen wines, we have some choise) is standard over here.
