I find the "Wings of Yuri" at the end rather suspicious as to what this serie might be but looking at it, it does appear to be just that. ('Yuri' being girl-girl stuff)... and I thought I was the one who was crazy. ;D

Of course the one problem you have is that they are Japanese and you play Maori and I play Japan. :)

...so, yeah. I suspect that the scanslation guys picked a manga that had content they approved of, rather than altering to fit.

Also, am I the only one sure that there must be some mistranslation going on regarding Cdr. Kuki and Mamiya's roles?

Don't think so (though I have only read a small bit of the first chapter) In what way?

Well, I'd always understood that XO, eXecutive Officer, was the title for the ship's second in command - who, on a ship where the Captain was a Captain, would usually be a Commander.

But Kuki's commonly used title is Commander, she seems to be treated as the 2IC...

And Mamiya's called the XO and said to do the paperwork.

So it's a little confusing and I doubt that the mangaka (being one of us, ONE OF US) would have made messed up there.

Oh, and, I tried the Unebi in SS2 when I got to her statblock.

so having not read the series at all I would say you were dealing with a minor command and its "Capitan" was actualy a Commander.

No, the Unebi is listed as a Heavy Cruiser - as she should be, with four 30cm guns - and the highest officer aboard - referred to only as the Captain - is an elderly, utterly calm gentleman who never speaks.

So there's something strange, there. My working assumption is that Kuki is the second in command and Mamiya is purser or some equivalent logistical post.

Generaly speaking on USN naval vessels in combat operations the XO would be on the bridge and the CO would be in Combat Systems runing the fight but thats realy all I know about how it works (cut me some slack here im a Marine not a damn Squid)

Well, the captain does not really do anything, except for exercising, tending to his bonsai trees, drinking tea and sleeping. Still, it is just one book and it's hard to draw a conclusion based on those few chapters. It could be a mistranslation or the mangaka is not as knowledgable as we might believe him to be or there is a reason that has yet to be explained.

A weird bunch though. :D

I did not say that ESTFI is hentai. Only one who knows lots about Hentai would use something like that from a normal webcomic in this particular manner to imply something else even if it isn't. :)

... and the only stuff I read on the web are Schlock, Berserk, Claymore, Fairy Tail, Battle Angel Alita: Last Order, Blade of the Immortal, Vinland Saga and The Wallflower (with Schlock being the only webcomic of the lot and the rest are scanlations which I read on www.thespectrum.net )
