Hello All,

I firmly believe that we need more hard and fast rules.  At the same time I have played with several people who could turn any rule into any shape that they wanted.  Thats why we have Mods / GMs to stomp on such attempts.

Can we focus on clearing up / fixing the rules instead of pointing out ways the rules can be broken.

Re: rule lawyering: here here. Lets clarify what we've got, update the ruleset as published so it's current, and more or less leave it at that.

Some rules lawyering up front is useful to help us refine the wording or intent of possible rules.

The current discussions are proving useful, and once Maddox is back, he and I will discuss what we're going to settle so far as modifications are concerned.

Well if are talking about rules lawyering, why not consider copying some IRL lawmaking procedures when making rules? :)
First put a new rules suggestion out for referral (Swe: Remiss), so interested parties can come with feedback.
Secondly: Save and publicise the discussions leading up to the rule, this will tell people what the intention of the rules is and what it is intended to do, thereby creating a guideline in how the rule should be implemented. In the same fashion a court would look at the parliamentary pre-works (preparations?) when implementing a new law.

This might lade to slightly more work in making new rules, but I think that it will lead to much less debates and controversies in the long run.
