I see you have elected the crew for the Greenland expedition.

Yes;Admiral,as you are very well know;he smiled; I`ve have picked  Linie-kapitan Gudjohnsson ,because of his wast experince in the Artic and not the least that he is born and raised on Iceland.
And, as we agreed,I`d given him the freedom of choosing his own crew.But one thing puzzles me,instead of choosing an experinced navigator,he chooses a naval-kadett and moreover he want him as styris-mann as well!

I see,but what is so special about him?

I don´t know;I`ve looked through his service record and though not the top of his class,he is in the front-third of his class.

What else do we know about him?

He is born in Norway,his mother died at his birth,his father was a fishermann who perished at sea, so he was brougth up by his grandmother from the age of three and attended the navy school also 3 years ago and is now at his final sea-tour before his commisioning as Lejtnant z.s.,on the "Jormungand".

Under the command of Cpt.Gudjohnsson,I see,well I trust his judgement,but how about the rest of the crew?

I presume of Cpt.Gudjohnsson has that well at hand,so he and the rest of his crew will be transferred to Reykyavik during the spring and will make trails and then embark for the expedition around the first of june ,and then sail as far north as possible during the summer and set up camp when the frost starts again.

Rolf picked up his Sex-Tant from the cardtable and went out on wing ,wondering why he had to take a new measurement of their position.It has been like this for the past three days,a plot every third hour and allways him.
17,54 E-63,15N,He shouted to the Obersteuermann,Keep her stady!
He went in again and marked the position at the sea-chart.

Well, Cpt.Gudjohnsson said,You may wonder why I drive so hard these days,but I had be sure that you can work even with virtually no sleep,You`ve done well young man,so go to yor bunk and get some sleep!

Building Boom In The Confederation!!!!!!!

All over the confederation a gigantic buildingboom is speeding ahead

In all major cities in the confederation thousand of workers and artisans are building new homes for themselves due to the new statesguaranteed mortgageloans.This will hopefully help to boost economy ,now that the building industry is moving ahead in full bloom together with the naval rebuild.

Good to see you too,I gather this is not a social visit in connection with the holidays.

No,You are quite rigth,I have recieved reports of a significant rise in pirate activity in the Carribean and intelligence reports indicate it could be the Anahuac trying to reestablise itself.

Haven`t we send three cruser to replace the ligth crisers we have sold to Japan?Can`t they do the job of eradicating that scum?

Yes Off course!In open waters,and thats the real problem,they can manouver in the shallow waters and then elude us,so We need some small fast vessels to aid our cruisers.

Do you have any plans for such vessels?

No not yet at least we are considering to contact the Royal Dutch Navy if they have any desings that could be obtainable and then build them at Bermuda.

At last;Intelligence indicate that the new french battleship Superbe.will arrive in Holland this summer!

Should this give rise to concerns?

No,honestly not really at the same time the Preussen finished and it can always "escort" the Superbe if neccesesary.  

Good stuff - Arctic expeditions greatly interest me (especially since they so often turn into spectacular failures).
