Greetings to all!

Thank you for your generous greetings and offers of assistance in all things Navalism.

I could use some assistance in discovering UNK's place in the world. Do I have any Alliances, Pacts, Treaties or animosities I should be aware of? What guarantees of Independence should I be aware of?
I have noticed an enlightened 10 in diplomatic relations with Glorious France(Suggesting an Alliance) but since my latest information appears to be from 1906 I am uncertain whether attitudes may have changed.
Other good relations appear with The CSA (7) and Rohan and Bavaria (6) how current are these?
Poor relations in 1906 were Brandenburg, Swiss, Haven and Nepal (all at 3).

By The way what is the current Date? I believe it to be in mid 1908.

It would appear all my information is dated at 1906(not sure if that is early or late 1906). What has my economy been up to since that time or am I allowed to guide that previous production.

Also how did the UK lose its dominating Empire of OTL? Did it never aquire it, loose some Major Wars? I notice very few places unoccupied in the World Map. Are these available for colonisation still (Notably India- ie. the 'Crown Jewel' and the Congo)?

Has the UNK been in any conflicts(internal or external) in the past 50 years?

Thanks for any assistance in locating this information.

PS. I will add my email to my profile shortly for any Top Secret information I need to be aware of. HehHeh

Well, greetings new neighbour!
Other then I know more about the history of the different countries here, but:
The UNK is still in a alliance with france as far as I know, no idea when it will expire.
The UNK is in almost-war with the Swiss, so there the relation has deteriorated, otherwise I think that list is correct.

Congo is not empty, it belongs to the Netherlands.

We're currently in the first week of July 1908.  Time has slowed due to the current Pacific War, but will pick up if/when the war ends.

UNK did not manage to gain nearly as much power as historical UK, particularly due to vigorous conflict with France in the late 18th/early 19th centuries.  You'll notice that France is the so-called "Thousand pound gorilla" in this zoo...

As for getting new colonies, it has been done on occasion in recent years - it's a matter of roleplaying and seeing what the Mods think the NPC states will do about it.

Good luck on doing something about those Nepalese.

I think the old hands will weight in here. Also maybe Earl will make a cameo appearance?

Basicaly, the Normans counquered England. But were not kicked out of France until the late XVIIIth century. The North American colonies broke away under a cadet branch of the Ruling House. And split into two in mid XIXth - producing the Norman Kingdom and CSA. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the Norman Kingdom of England led the life of a medium Power. A socialist revolt in 1905 overthrew the monarchy, but the society's betters called in the Normans from North America to rescue the very fabric of civilisation from the Unwashed Barbarians.

This is the slightly right of centre view from Vienna.

In mid XVIIth republican Normans founded the Island Commmonwelath in the Carribean, currently annexed/liberated by Gra Colombia.
In early XVIIIth due to some dynastic infighting th Norman Kingdom of Australia was founded. Currently it makes part of the beleaguared New Swiss Confedaration.

In June two Tribal-class cruisers engaged a Swiss raider off the western coast of Africa.  The Swiss ship (NSS Seawolf) was neutralized in the engagement, however the HMS Kaska sank from damage not long after the Swiss vessel struct its colors, leaving the also crippled HMS Cheyenne to watch over the crippled Swiss ship until a Dutch vessel came along.  The Swiss vessel was scuttled and its crew picked up by the Dutch.  HMS Cheyenne was towed back to Seirra Leone on June 27th.  She is heavily damaged and should likely be scrapped.

Could alos add that two old "Glory" class battleships was sold and handed over to the Netherlands 2/1908, I think you could ask earl about the details.

Hello,

Thanks for the info, please continue if you folks have a chance.

Sorry for Congo reference I meant Ghana through to Nigeria. Speaking of the Netherlands, how did they come to get Scotland?

Thanks Again.

In 1902/3 the United Norman Kingdom (the North American one)
- intervened in the Spanish Civil war - a poorly executed, repulsed with heavy losses attack on Tangier made the king die to a stroke;
- together with French intervened to avert socialist putsh in Lisbon; French used gas shells on rebel defenders; French and Normans fired at one another in the fog; the socialist rebels capitulated to the terror of gass shells
- intermarried with the Habsburgs
- got blackballed in the international community after becoming chummy with Agrival Mars, an Evil! mastermind and businesman with private fleet and army; alsot came to shooting war with Habsburgs and Hohenzolerns (DKB) after attacked the Azores, the base of Agrival Mars (where he had been just elected president by the local oligarchy)

I'm not sure what happened before, I'm a Johnny come late :)

Only parts of Scotland (I will want to buy the island of Isle from you btw, got to have a good supply of strategic liquids), and they are in fact quite old.
Exactly how is a bit uncertain, but basically it is a personal union with the Dutch ruling family holding the title of the lord of the islands and highlands. That title have never belonged to the crown of Scotland at all.
The total population of the territory of Triath nan Eilean or RĂ Innse Gall is only about 200k.

Ah, you ask of Scotland, my lad ... tis a strange tale ...

Sadly, my idea - Calvinist Scots asking continental monarch for help against the quasi-Papist Normans, and debating into the night, and being tired, so the letter got sent to WilhelmINA, not Wilhelm :) did not pass.

The North of Scotland is actualy the Jarldom of the Isles - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lord_of_the_Isles which did not get absorbed by Scotland, but continued on its independent course. And in the XVIIth century the Dutch, fed up with running the Norman gauntlet of the Canal la manche and tolls (that  pisses off the Dutch no small way!) in the strait of Dover, extended assistance to the principality to preserve its independence versus the Normans of England. The Dutch wanted a safe and FREE!!!! passage around the British Isles. In the XVIIIth century the local dynasty died out, and the principality inherited by a cadet branch of the Dutch Royal House.

As it was Korpen who dug up the Triath nan Eilean, he is the spin doctor for that.

I thought it was the DKB?

I still don't know why. the UNK has more reasons to fight the Allies than it does to fight NS.

Ahhh - in 1906 the (by now) United Norman Kigdom, in concert with France, suggested tolls in the Pas de Calaise, under the pretext of "paying for aids to navigation and safety of maritime traffic".
This had the Kingdom of the Nederlands in an uproar, and organising a League for the Freedom of the Seas (I think that it was the ONE, single occasion when the New Swiss and Habsburgs were on the same side of the fence), of which the Netherlands and Baltikum were very vocal members.  This made those two staunchly Protestant monarchies sign treaties of friendship with the Reactionary Papist Running Dogs - i.e. me :)
The general uproar over those tolls led to the Conference of the Hague.

Unfortunately the Swiss actions in the Indian Ocean against French warships escorting a Caliphate convoy to Firanji and the resulting actions of the Dutch have more or less clouded anything that came out of the Hague and the events surrounding those tolls.

Had the Swiss not gone and done something we shall label as "stupid" for the time being, they might have more allies than enemies, seeing how the winds were blowing at the Hague.

Hello All!

I have been busy making charts to figure out where my country is sitting, but there are large gaps.

Would anyone (possibly a moderator?) have info on where my fleets, shipyards, docks are located and their status.

How about my research or economic activity since 1906?

Thanks for any assistance.

Well, the world map should tell you were most of your country is. What is the questionmark?

As for research and economic activity, you mig have to look in the "Sim report"-forum
There are UNK reports up untill H1/1908 http://www.navalism.org/index.php?topic=1200.0
You will also find list of ports and other infrastructure included there.
