Another CL laid down along with the usual range of light stuff.  There's a half dozen coastal escorts this turn, don't expect that to become a trend.

BB Wrogi's in for refurbishment.

BP built and some ICs of course.

A few points spend on coastal defence works.

Major R&D point of interest is a start on a superheavy 400mm/50 gun, so I can flip-flop endlessly on whether to use it or the 450/45 already in development.

I've got both a 390 and a 435, but I'm considering sticking to my 365L50 for the next battlewagons,
which would be more 'not as slow' 10-gun ships.

It somewhat depends on what others do, but the needed size for ships for 390/435 is very large
or I have to cut the number of gun barrels into the single digits.
I just can't see more 20-gun dreadnaughts in my future. *sigh*
Did they beat the drum slowly,
Did they play the fife lowly,
Did they sound the death march, as they lowered you down,
Did the band play the last post and chorus,
Did the pipes play the flowers of the forest

I'm almost certainly sticking with the existing 400/45 for the next class of capital ships, but we'll see what happens after that.

Yeah.  I'm torn as well.  I can do some reasonably fast 360/45 gunned battleships.   Or I can make a huge 400/45 battleship.

For me part of the conundrum is Byzantine builds a style very similar to Parthia, while Rome is doing something very different, and Japan is going a 3rd path.
Those seem to be the three most likely PC nations*. So what they've got afloat when I lay down the successors to the Kaliferns will matter.
To Parthia the Kaliferns are heavily armored, and have 16x 365/50, which seems an adequate offensive punch with current ranges, so the 390 and 435s are future options if needed,
but not a lock for the next ships.

*Byzantine because of the history, Rome due to Malta, Japan due to mutterings about non-Asians, despite Parthia being in Asia.... The Norse, Ethiopia and China were friendly when they had players, Iberia is a bit of a null. Rajasthan like most NPCs is neutral, while Parthia is confident it can oppose the Mayans adequately.

And then there are the Aztecs.

Those Weirdos.

Parthia seems to have good relations with Azteca, long borders in NA and Africa peaceably settled on. Parthia's tried to support that by facilitating Aztec/Japanese passage across the Pacific.

The Aztec have a natural foe in Rome, a potential one in Wilno, and a fun NPC to play with :)
