Need either 23-26knot BB or 29-30knot BC,

400L45 gun, Triple, 3G, 2G turrets.
Triple 350L45 is also available for BCs.

The Iberians seem to favor smaller capital ships,
so a 8 or 10 broadside is acceptable
to keep size down.
but up to 4T3 can be considered.

Secondaries can be
155L50 M&H, D, C
140L50, 2g M&H, M&H, D, C
120L50  2g M&H, M&H, D, C

Only AA available is 90L50 in M&H and D.

Did the pipes play the flowers of the forest

I would suggest just adding a second "Tigre" class BC to the build list.

I'll thrown in an "Iron Duke" and a "R" design for the BBs.

Ok, slightly different design.  I went with a 25kt BB with 3 twin 400s.  Reason - Tonnage/build time.  This is about the best you're going to get out of a relatively tough BB that can be built in 3 years with the 400mm gun.  Yes it doesn't have a LOT of guns.  But it has Powerful Guns.  And at under 27k tons you can afford to build them and build them in numbers.  The turning radius should be VERY tight considering the length to beam.  The TDS gives you 7 torps before you're in 'we're all gonna die' territory.  And you're built for the Mediterranean and North Atlantic fight with sufficient seakeeping but again weight savings where possible (though I kept a 100t 'reserve', and 100t for 'Flag Quarters' because it's likely to be a flagship).

I would suggest just adding a second "Tigre" class BC to the build list.

I'll thrown in an "Iron Duke" and a "R" design for the BBs.

The final Iberian builds were finishing two Don Juan d'Austria at 23 knots & 330mm
and starting two Tigre at 30knots and 350mm

The two Tigres finish on schedule in 1917.5, So this will be the successor.
A Tigre 2.0 with 1918 tech and mild armor improvements is doable, but
the 1910 gen of ships were now in service in 1918. So a new design.

But he also designed a 400L45 triple, which then was unused.
He also designed a 210L50, likewise unused.

So looking around the Globe at what's afloat in 1918, and their ships, they need
some up to date designs .

Quote3 twin 400s.
As fair warning : When I specify 8-10 gun broadsides is acceptable, that is the parameter.
For talking purposes, other designs are always interesting, but  if size was the limiting factor
The Iberians would prefer 8 x 350L45 to 6x400L45.
8 x 400L45 in either 3/2/3 or 2/2/2/2 runs about 900 extra tons,
but a 350L45 design with either arrangement is slightly less tons.

On a different aspect, it would probably be good if the main battery turret sides were thick enough
to withstand an armored cruiser at combat ranges, in case a 'Trafalger' offside envelopment, or 'capping the T' is done..or night fights, fog, etc.
Did they beat the drum slowly,
Did they play the fife lowly,
Did they sound the death march, as they lowered you down,
Did the band play the last post and chorus,
Did the pipes play the flowers of the forest

The Rock Doctor

Battleship on the cheap.  Similar hull form and secondary to the preceding class, similar speed, range, et cetera.  Pretty economical for the firepower involved.

I admit I can't quite make sense of Darman's approach to armor thickness, so I just went with numbers in the general ballpark of what I thought was reasonable.

I'll fiddle with some tonnage and see if I can squeeze it in my tonnage parameters with 8 guns.

After playing with the design, to get a BB with 8 x 400mm guns under the 27,000t mark, it would require some rather large sacrifices elsewhere.  That being a given, my 400mm gun design will take an additional HY to produce, but I think that the tonnage is well spent on a more durable battle unit.
