Phoenix and me lost a very important person in our lives.

Edith, Babeth's mum , passed away last night.

Jefgte

This is sad news.
Lina & Jef sends you our condolences.
Courage and prayers.

The Rock Doctor

I'm sorry you've lost her.

Kaiser Kirk

I am so sorry to hear that,
I was hopeful she would have more time with you.
You have my condolences,

Best wishes,

Kirk
Did they beat the drum slowly,
Did they play the fife lowly,
Did they sound the death march, as they lowered you down,
Did the band play the last post and chorus,
Did the pipes play the flowers of the forest

People. I have know the wonderful "Blaue Engel" for 21 years, and if her intentions on life wouldn't have been crossed by reality, she had another 50 years to go. She aimed for 128 years.

Oh well, it's what it is. She went out quite fast.  From a glorious 77 year lady to a kind off empty shell in 6 weeks.
Way better than my own mother, who too 4 years to go from a strong mother to a mummy.

Well, given the choice, from what you've said of her, I don't think she would have been happy with a slow decline.

maddox

That is entirely correct.
She always said "I don't want to be a burden to anyone".

The Rock Doctor

How are you both doing?

maddox

We try to tune out the sorrow by working.

For me, not that difficult, as I started a new job early januari. Something completely different. Waste water treatment plant managment and junior project consultant.

Unfortunatly, one of the tasks we have to do, is to clean out Ediths house.
And there are 2 issues with that.

  • She never did trow anything away.
  • About everything is a memory.

The Rock Doctor

Yeah, that's definitely a tough task.

maddox

Time will heal that wound.  But atm, it's still raw.

And the toughest bits are done, luckely.

The Rock Doctor

That's good to hear.

I gather you two are in charge of the whole estate, then?

maddox

Phoenix's 2 brothers gave Phoenix the task to "make it so".

They do live in the Netherlands, and cross border traffic is discouraged strongly atm. So we do understand.

The Rock Doctor

Similar situation with my mother's estate.  She expected my brother and I to jointly deal with the estate, but the logistics were complicated by me being three provinces away.  So he took on the legal elements by himself while we consulted on other things together.

Kaiser Kirk

A house full of memories can be great, but it can also tug at the sorrow as well.
I'm glad to hear the toughest bits are done.
Be well.
