Treaty between the Empire of Japan and the Iberian Empire
Effective as of 1 November 1912

1) The High Contracting Parties declare themselves to be mutually interested in maintaining peace and prosperity within the sphere of Southeast Asia.   

2) Declaration of neutrality if either signatory becomes involved in war over the national interests enumerated in this treaty.   

3) Promise of support if either signatory becomes involved in a defensive war with more than one Power.   

4) Signatories promise not to enter into separate agreements with other Powers that impact the seventh clause of this treaty.

5) The signatories promise to communicate frankly and fully with each other when any of the interests affected by this treaty are in jeopardy.   

6) Treaty to remain in force for five years and then at one years' notice, unless notice was given at the end of the fourth year.   


7) The signatories promise to respect the other's claims in the Indonesian archipelago hereby enumerated:   
       a) The interests of Japan lie to the west of Celebes (inclusive) and those of Iberia lie to the east of the Moluccas (inclusive).   
       b) The main islands this applies to are Sumatra, Borneo, Java, Celebes, and New Guinea and any associated satellite banks, shoals, and reefs.
       c) Exclusions:
               i) Mainland of Southeast Asia
               ii) Pre-existing colonial holdings
               iii) Anything north of the Celebes Sea
               iv) Anything south of Timor (inclusive)

8 ) Signatories will open their ports in the Indonesian archipelago to each others vessels, beyond the customary pleasantries
