First of her type, Rigel was built with experimental turbines to serve as a teastbed for this revolutionary technology. She led the scouting force at the Battle of 3rd Taiwan, and took a torpedo at the battle. Battle damage and unreliable engines have gained her the nickname Refit & Repair.

The second and third ships of the Rigel class, these two where delayed as the Constitutions had priority for the new engines. As a result these two where able to be modified to take the new 9" guns and more powerful engines.

The final member of the Rigel class, Antares was able to make use of all knowledge gained up to date. She mounts new superfiring 6" guns and finally has fully reliable turbines. She has full flag facilities and will serve as flagship for the 1st Scouting Group.
