The Armored Frigate HMS Duke Arnberg collided with a cargo ship while returning to port. Initial investigators believe that the cargo ship deliberatly turned into the path of the Arnberg. The ship, identified as
the Lyon of French registary, was badly damaged in collision. Kapt.Lt. de Frees of the Arnberg attempted to evade by backing his engines but was unable to avoid the Lyon. The Master of the Lyon has not been found, the crew reporting in the confusion that he fled the bridge.
The Arnberg received moderate damage to her bows and should require about 30 to 45 day of repair work.

The Master of the French cargo ship, Lyon has been arrested attempting to board a ship from New Switzerland. The man identified as one Jaques Johannsen was found carrying a passport from France and 1 from New Switzerland stating his name as Jack Carson. Investigators have contacted both Consolates to determine his real identity.
Interviews with the bridge crew all claim the ship's master physically pushed the helmsman away from the wheel and turn the Lyon into the path of the Duke Arnberg while ringing up full speed. The Helmsman, (name not released) claimed that he tried to turn the Lyon but was to late to do anything to prevent the collision. The Lyon will be held indefinatly and that the French owners will be billed for the repair of the Arnberg.
The Royal Navy will be stopping all French and New Swiss ships entering Singapore harbors to put a naval pilot onboard. This is reported to be a temporary measure until the investigation is completed.

QUOTE
France takes the responsibility of the Duke  Arnberg debacle.

It's the mistake of the shipping company to hire an incompetent skipper or NS payed agent.

Also, it's a mistake of the police to leave a leave a potential NS saboteur on the lose.

The navy of Glorious France offers to cover all damages to the sloop Duke Arnberg.
And will send a replacement sloop to cover for the duties of Duke Arnberg. If the Dutch gouvernement agrees.

Minister DeCreme

The Dutch East Indies Company announced today that on Febuary 1st when the HMSS(Her Majesties Steam Ship) Suriname departs for Suriname and the ABC Islands they will also start passenger service to New Beleriand at the port of Brithombar. Talks are taking place to start passenger service from Antwerp to the CSA and the UKA. The new steam ship HMSS Queen Wilhemenia, with a passenger capacity of almost 750 of which 100 will be first class.

This would be the first regular passenger service between Europe and the Americas, others operating at occasional schedules. The Q.W. will start it's regular schedule on April 1, 1901 with an arrival date of April 7 at New York with a 2 day layover then to Charleston S.Carolina with a 1 day layover then returning to Antwerp in approximately 1 week.

The ACM trade protection cruiser 'Sunfish' of the Cod Class has been confirmed as having arrived here seeking asylum. The ship is reported as being in disrepair, all wood fixtures having been stripped to provide fuel.
The Captian, Juan de Chazueze stated that they had left St.Helena Island in early Oct. with orders to attack the whaling ships working in the southern seas. He admitted to attacking at least 7 whalers, 3 French, 1DKB, 1 Dutch and 2 New Swiss. The crews being put on 1 of the French whalers to be taken to a port in French South America. The others being stripped then sunk.
Capt. Chazueze reported that in early December they started to suffer engine breakdowns causing an increase in fuel consumption. On the 22nd they attempted to land at Tristan da Cunha to take on fuel but were turned away. It was there that they realized they were on their own and would recieve no help from their government. They then began to burn the wood decking the their lifeboats before reaching southern Africa, landing on the western coast away from any village. There they cut wood, hunted, and collected water for about a week until they ran into small patrol of Orange Free State militia. The green wood caused the uptakes to clog with soot reducing power and forcing them to stay within a days travel of land.
They were trying to reach their home base at St.Helena's. Due to their continueing engine problems and a shortage of fuel forced them to make land fall again in Portugese West Africa. After capturing a small telegraph station they learned just how bad things were with the AMC. Half the crew elected to remain there rather than risk what would happen to them on St.Helena. Capt. Chazueze took the remaining in an attempt to reach St.Helena but about half way they sighted a French warship and turned away before being sighted themsleves. It was then they decided to seek asylum with the Netherlands in Moanda.
After a thourgh examination of the 'Sunfish' they RN will decide if the ship will be repaired or scrapped or scuttled. They crew is being held at the Royal Army barracks outside Moanda and will be given their choice to remain in the Congo or to return home.
The Royal Navy has ordered the Sloop HMS Hainut to Tristan da Cunha to investigate.

A revised schedule for the Q.W. will Norfolk in the CSA not Charleston as reported.
A second passenger ship may be added to the American schedule with ports of call in the Island Commonwealth and New Orleans then on to Brithombar, if enough interest is shown.

LONG LIVE THE PRINCE!!!!!!!
LONG LIVE THE PRINCESS!!!!!!
Queen Wilhemenia after being in labor for 15 hours gave birth to twins yesterday. Little Prince Willem Julius Leopold was 6 lb.10 oz.and 18 inches long and his younger sister Princess Anna Charlotte Maria wa 6 lb. 5 oz and 17 1/2 inches long. Both babies are doing fine and appear to be healthy and quite loud according to sources. Her Majesty is resting well after her ordeal but was insistant that she be allowed to nurse them their first time dispite the doctors wanting her to let the wet nurses do it.
Lt tz 1st Klasse Looz-Corswaren was on leave at the time and was permitted to be with his wife during child birth. This was the first time that a husband was allowed to be present at child birth. He was reported as saying 'he was there at the start and was going to see it thru to the end'. The presents of his prized Colt revolver may have had some influence on the matter.

Brussels
The Army General Staff has learned that the reported French troop buildups along the Empire's borders have ceased. Some reports indicate the in some places new built field works and strongpoints have been abandoned and others were left in an uncompleted start. Borders patrols report that they have had no indications of French activates in areas that had heavy troop concentrations.
Sources have learned that there may have been some action some where within the French Empire but the sources could find out what it was. Some in the General Staff believe that the imminant war with the New Swiss were responsible for the increased troop concentrations through out the French Empire. While others maintain that there was some kind of battle being fought.
Repeated calls to the French Embassy have gone unanswered as have attempts of our embassy in Paris. Her Majesty has expressed thanks to the French for the pull back and to all of her loyal man in the Royal Army and Navy for the increased vigilance.

1 MarchSingapore
The French detectives questioning the master of the steamship Lyon have been unable to determine exactly who he is. It has been determined that he is a New Swiss citizen and that he received his excellent French passport in Darwin Australia. He has so far refused to tell authorities how he was able to obtain the
passport and who conspirators are.

3 March
Singapore
A jailor today entered the cell of Jack Carson and shot him dead then turned the gun on himself. The second guard on duty was unable to stop the killings. A note on the killer simply said for the "Glory to New Switzerland". It is beleived not to be in the killers hand writing as he was reported as being unable to read or write. The killer was identified as Fuaday Guezman, a resident of Singapore.

15 March
Amsterdam, the Admirality
Sources today reported that the Admirality recieved information of a 'friend' in Paris that the French Navy fought a battle in the Mediterranean in mid Febuary. The report says the French Fleet engaged the ACM Fleet at Malta. The ACM fleet was reported as being destroyed and that French suffer few casulaties.
A second source though reports that the French were 'embarrassed' and that more than 1 ship was lost. No type was listed in the report but the source beleives it may have been a armoured cruiser or perhaps a
battleship. The French Admirality has remained quite about any actions in the Med.

" We of France appolegise for the caused trouble by the  mobilisation and the grouping of military forces on the borders.
But the Situation was so this was, and still is warranted.

After the reports that  The Netherlands got very weary and suspicious, we retrreacted the troops on the borders as soon as possible. This to prove France isn't violating the fragile peace in Europe."
