Lieutenant Rescued!
October 1st

SS Mary Ann's Navigation Officer has been rescued. Lieutenant Sharpe was a prisioner on board the French ship captured during the Battle of Clipperton Island. Here is his story in his own words:
"...during the 29th (of June) we spotted a ship apperantly in distress. When we stoped to see if we could help all hell broke lose. The ship immedietly opened fire on us. We tried to surrender but the ship continued to fire on us. We where then boarded by the pirates. They then procceded to rape and kill all who had survived. Only the fact that I was the highest surviving officer saved me. After having been pillaged, the ship was scuttled. I was constantly interrogated by a number of French officers on board the pirate vessel. The pirates where apperantly cooperating with the French, because althoughout they took several other ships, French vessels where left alone. Finally we arrived at Clipperton. I was then transfered to the St Julian, as I was going to be sent to France for further interoggation. It was there where I was rescued by the NSS Anchorage..."


Phoenix at Lisbon (about time)!
October 5th

Six months after departing Liberia, Phoenix and her consorts finally decided to arrive in Lisbon. The reason for this extraordinary delay is unknown. But it is tought that this was a nose thumbing excercise. To let the Evil Empire that we can send raiders into the Atlantic, without them being able to do anything at all. Next stop will be Amsterdam. Hopefully in time for the wedding of the Queen of the Neatherlands. Rumor has it that Phoenix and Pegasus will attemt to run the Norman Channel in the face of the French Navy.


Mystery Ship Vanishes (again)!
October 13th

Does the mystery ship carry a cloaking device? A fisherman reported a strange incident of the coast of North Switzerland. In his words:
"I was fishing of the coast when I heard this explosion. I then saw a pair of ships coming toward me about 5 miles way. The leading ship was one of the new destroyers. But I couldnt tell what the rear ships was. They where obiously conducting live fire excersices. At that moment I was surrounded by a pair of PT boats. As I was politely escorted away I saw a strange green fog surround the two ships. When the fog finally cleared the two ships had dissapered!"
The destroyer seen by the fisherman is tought to be NSS James Watt as all other destroyers are accounted for. It is this very same ship that dissapered from Olympia 5 months ago.


Auk V?
October 13th

One of our reporters has reported the presence of a glider on the grounds of the Royal Family. Can it be that young Skywalker has gotten his hands on another glider? Hopefully this one will have a longer life than Auk IV.


Pirates Strike again!
October 29th

The German ship KM Fürst Bismarck was engaged by an "unknown vessel" while returning from Pitcain Isl. This vessel cannot be other than a French supported pirate. As a result all NSN ships will be at hightened alert while at sea. New Switzerland requests that other nations carry their Flags at all times to prevent an accident.


French support of pirates.
November 1st

It has been conclusively proven that the pirates receive support from France. A number of French officers where captured. They have revealed the extent of French involvement. A French ship carrying ambasadors is scheduled to arrive on Dec 25th. We call on France to stop her support of pirates and terrorists. We desire peace but we are prepared for war!


Navy News
(no date)

NSS Anchorage and NSS Nessie have arrived. It appeares that they where damaged more than reported. As the Olympia class ships will be refited at a later date Anchorage will not be repaired now. She will for the time being be used as a training ship and be placed in the reserve.

The NSN has announced that a number of ship in the reserve will be activated. With Anchorage out and pirates lose this will necesary to protect our merchant marine.

It has been anounced that all TBs are to be scrapped or sold. This is strange news as the torpedo squadrons are considered the Elite of the Navy.

As France isn't at war, yet, there are no privateers. And pirates get a fair trial, but on piracy itself a life sentance hard labour in the coalmines is standard.No matter what nationality.

The naval ship Phoenix will not be harmed by any French vessels or costal defences as long France and New Swiss aren't at war.
To prove this , we even invite the Phoenix in our harbors to load supplies.

Marines to Clipperton
Nov 5th

A pair of Atlanta class cruisers has departed San Fransisco bound for Clipperton. On board are a pair of Navy Marine companies. They will make sure Clipperton can no longer be used as a base for pirates. They are expected to arrive on November 15th.


Blockade!
Nov 10th

Due to the fact that the pirate supply ship sailed from San Fransisco, the NSN has seen the need to declare a "blockade" of San Fransisco. Note this will not be a true blockade. It will be limited to stop and search of outbound ships. Any ship found to be smuggling* ammunition or coal will be forced to return to shore where autorities can handle it. We invite any neutral nation (CSA?) on board our ships, so they can observe.

(* By smuggling I mean carrying secretly ammunition, or transporting coal to unknown destination. If ship has legitimate papers and destination it will be allowed to continue.)


Pegasus visits Le Harve!
Nov 13th

Today Pegasus arrived in Le Harve. She will stay a few days there before joining Phoenix in Amsterdam, probably around December 1st. Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs, Hans Brinks will be dropped of. He will join our cruisers in Amsterdam later on.

Sailors on board Pegasus have been reported to gasp at the ugliness of the French ships. They have reportedly said that the ships dont float, the sea repeals them!


Mission to Istanbul (Note: OOC)
Nov 15th

A sleek greyhound cuts the waves. With her grey camoflouge, she is almost invisible. She departed from Port Blair 10 hours ago. Her job is to transport a diplomat with a secret mission, his final destination "drumroll" Istanbul.


Anti-French Protest!
Nov 17th

Today there was a protest in Phoenix. Approximately 20,000 poeple marched in what was an Anti-French/Russian demonstration. With cries of "Remember the SS Mary Ann!" "On to Paris!" "Free Poland!", the protesters march to the Senate with a petition to declare war on France. During the protest a group stormed the federal prision. They were apperantly trying to lynch, Mr Hyde. Mr Hyde was captured during the recent engagement, he is tought to be the one who guided the pirates to the SS Mary Ann and her cargo. He has been charged with high treason, murder, and a number of other crimes, and at this time is waiting for his trial. Fortunately no one was injured in the storming of the prision.

The Goverment has declined to comment on this.


Military News
Nov 20th

The Constitution Groups has sailed from Phoenix, destination unknown. All other ships have been placed on high alert. The NSEF are reportedly boarding their ships.

Australian National Guard units are ordered to report to their stations. They will be activated at a rate of 1 Division every 3 months. Other National Guard units are ordered to remain alert.


Dissapering Ships!
Nov 22nd

Recent reports indicate that the NSN has deployed a device for making ships dissapere. Just today we received a report that a light cruiser dissapered from Port Blair on the 15th. It was mentioned that a strange "green" smoke was seen before she was gone. Constitution and her escorts also sailed from Phoenix under similar circumstances. Considering the crowded condition of both harbors, the fact that no one saw the ships leave is important.


French victims of own Aggresion!
November 25th

A French ship bound for South America, has been found looted and destroyed. Apperantly one of their own pirates mistook their own ship. This should serve them well for supporting Piracy. Althought there are people who think this is all
a French plot to appere the victims.


Duel Challenge!
Nov 29th

Russia has accused us of violating Maritime Laws. This is unexcussable accusation. Thus said, the NSN has challenged Russia to a duel on the high seas. Since this is an affront to our honor.

Russia declines your suggestion. We shouldn't take part in any kind of performance such as your duel challenge.
We demand New Switzerland to behave correctly and don't make the world society lauthing on her.
We didn't appreciate any method of founding the best leader exept diplomatic negotiations.

The french President declared to the New Swiss accusations

France did lose 1 freigther to seemingly piracy, and that was the good ship Cognille, lost in the Caraïbian, and found looted.

France will reward the Rohirrim warhero and finder of the ship Captain Harloc with the Order of the Brasiere and the finders fee of 10% of the value of the Cognille will be shared between the crew of Captain Harlock's ship.

Our French "friends" are mistaken. No sailor was allowed of the ship. Those at the party were SSS officers. The SSS is suposedly very happy at the results. biggrin.gif

Triple Alliance!
December 19th

Lord Mountbatten, Governor of Australia announced that a treaty of mutual defence has been signed between New Switzerland, the Neatherlands and the DKB. The treaty is to be call the Treaty of Brandenburg, after the place of its signing.


Blockade (follow up)
December 20th

The NSN has announced that starting New Year only suspicious ships will be stoped. The NSN is suposedly very pleased with the results, since the "blockade" was established there have been no reports of Piracy.


Phoenix in Amsterdam!
December 25th

Phoenix toghether with Pegasus arrived today in Amsterdam. No date has yet been given for their departure, but they might stay awhile. Mr. Hans Brinks and the captains of the two cruisers, have announced their intention of attending Her Majestie's wedding.


French ship arrives!
December 25th

A French ship carrying spi...err diplomats arrived today in Phoenix. The NSN prepared quite a welcome commitee. It is rumored that some diplomats had an "accident".


NSEF to America?
December 29th

An unidetified sources has indicated that a number of German advisors especiallizing in Jungel warfare have been seen with the NSEF. The NSEF has departed for an unknown location for further training.

The French Diplomats are not spies, and to prove this, non of the diplomats are allowed to leave the ship unless accompagnied by a New Swiss Honor guard.

The crew of the ship isn't allowed off the ship. But they don't need to. The supplies on board stretch for 6 months.

In the Pacific fire France doesn't carry the luxury of Humor.
If New Swiss wanted Humor in the negotiations. They could have asked the Brandenburger clowns act to provide this.

Our Diplomats are there to erase the stain on the French honor, remove the Swiss invaders from Clipperton Island and get repayment for the damages suffered by the Anuhuac Pirate Hunters caused by the overeager New Swiss triggerhappy navy.
And all this without having to call in the Glorious French navy to pulverise the New Swiss refuge, like the Formidable armies Of France did in the past with the swiss armiezs in the lands they left.

France did grow up, and is above causing unneccesarely death and destruction. Now to educate the rest of the World

(Ah, humor...ark ark)

So will this mean France intends to educate the world by force? Rohan might be reading into the statement too much, but with a comment about Anahuac "Pirate Hunters", Rohan is not too sure. To Rohan's eye, those were raiders. While there is limited proof, the incidents of Wesron and other vessels being attack by either pirates or confirmed Anahuac Raiders has lessened with the destruction of those two Armored Barks and the other two "pirate" ships.

If France and the New Swiss want peace or resolutions, either talk or ignore each other. It seems that any other activity will result in problems in the Pacific and Europe. One war is quite enough to disrupt international trade across the oceans.

As far France Knows, the Anuhuac Empire sended out Pirate hunting ships to Clipperton Island after the New Swiss Insults that France would provide supplies to Pirates, and was using Clipperton Island to do that.

Then ,Rohan made it know to send out naval units to hunt pirates in the French waters. With the blessing of France .
But France warned Rohan that the Anuhuac could use this as a opportunity the damage or sink the pirate hunting Rohirrim. This warning proved correct.

France leased the Russian Cruiser Diana for the several purposed operation. One of the goals was to check out Clipperton island to see if Pirates resupplied there.

In the end New Swiss ships sunk Anuhuac pirate hunting ships, wich came there on the New Swiss stories. Rohan had a clash with Anuhuac warships, and New Swiss claimed a to have captured a French vessel. When france isn't missing any ships in that area.
And NO pirates were found.

The Goal France has now is to have a world where the economic value now misspend on warships and armies could be used to hep everybody to a better life.

We know this was in the past different, and we don't know what the future will bring, but we do live and work in NOW.
