Need a volunteer...

...for a national origin for a 'historical figure' of some significance to the Maori.

Many of my plans and thoughts about the Maori and their goals assume the existence of a national consciousness on their part as Polynesians, rather than Maori per-se; as citizens of the Pacific rather than Neue Brandenburg or Terra Australis.

To explain how this came about, I've been figuring on the existence of a book, published maybe 1906ish, called A History of the Polynesian Languages, by a linguist and anthropologist who went around to the various Pacific island groups, learned the local languages and wrote down a decent-to-thorough grounding in the local myths and oral histories... then sat down and compared them, and wrote a book about his findings and conclusions.

But I don't know where this fellow came from originally, and I don't want to step on someone's toes by picking an origin out of a hat and then getting some bit of background about him wrong.

There is some old in-game Hapsburger and Rohirrim activity in the region - I'd suggest the latter:  it might be an interesting idea to develop with Ithekro.
