Title: *pokes head in*
Post by: The Bushranger on July 17, 2011, 10:57:26 PM
...it's a small world after all...

Hi everybody. Sorry for vanishing (again). Real Life nommed me, and then when I had more time I felt bad about vanishing so I...kinda never poked back in. >_>

But now having crossed paths with one of you elsewhere (Exalted, of all things!) I've decided to at least hang around and kibitz. :)

Welcome back!!! Good to see ya again.
Exalted is awesome and WW games ROCK!

See if anything is open- I think there are still a couple of blank map spaces.

Heh. I'm not up to actually picking up a country, I don't think. But I will be playing the peanut gallery. :P
And thanks. ^_^
(And yes, 'tis is awesome. :P )

You have no idea how much of a doik I felt like when I made the 'Wait, that Bushranger?!' connection.

White Wolf writes setting materials that range from decent to amazing. Their mechanics rather frighten me.

But then, I run PDQ a lot, so.

I guess I should say hello again, and apologies for not keeping up.  There really isn't a good excuss as I have time, just lost my motivation (and some computer troubles that stopped me last time I had motivation).

Probably should have popped in much earlier.  Too late now.

Hi Ithekro!

Hmm. Will Springsharp run on Windows 7 64-bit?

Okay that was an interesting responce.  What would you like done?

North America seems to be filled, and if I'm reading things correctly more countries/power bases are completed (Rohan is likely out of the question since that was originally there as a "this is as far into fantasy as we are going" country).  From what I've seen the world is "normal" in terms of land masses.  Just different in terms of who occupies what.

Also I have no idea what rules have changed, since I tended for a more simplistic version of a country (not getting into details about where the railroads were or the fiddly bits of the economy...unless there was a story to it.)

I might use existing designs, if possible (for whatever), though I think mine are all in SS2 or whatever all my Rohan ships were done in.

WE have no idea what rules have changed, yet... and IIRC there are a couple of Asian nations that are open.
Heck, if you or Bushranger are not up for playing a country, maybe helping to write/design for some of the NPC's might not be out of the question? That is, if the Mods would be up for the assistance.

I think there is one or 2 in Europe (Poland for Sure), and one or 2 in Asia (Korea and one of the like 6 chinas)

Nice to see the two of you drop by to let us know that you are still alive. :)
Even if you do not pick up a nation, I hope you two feel motivated enough to join the occasional discussions.

We've got a significant chunk of Asian countries empty; 2-3 IIRC that are designed as player nations.

Thinking it over.  I'm not sure if I can grasp my head around an asian culture (at least a real one) without it seeming more europeans/american n nature.   I mean I could make it work, but would it be "realistic"?

I'm understanding that most of the world is not colonized...or did something happen to implode the easy empires?  Meaning civilization has been around the world, but the ruling forces never took hold in say Africa, South America, and India?

Also, is everyone suppose to start of on a roughly even level?

and Poland is open to I think Ithekro (ok ill shut up about it :-X ), we are all to be roughly equal (some things will obviously depend on personal taste)

Give me some pros and cons...Korea vs Poland in N4.  Assuming there is nothing in the Indian Ocean area that would be even remotely viable (an ocean power as oppose to a sea power)

I supose it would largly depend on you, I felt I was incapable of accuratly being a Oriental.  Korea is in a very very good posistion (last time I looked anyway).  I would recomend Poland personaly especialy since it has more room for expansion and access to the med.

That's basically two sea fleets, both rather restricted by potential opponents and not really able to reenforce each other (Baltic Fleet and Black Sea Fleet)  Or pretty much instant conflict with the likes of Japan, but with a potental commanding position in the local seas (and protental historical experiance in armored warships). Hmmmm.

Just Un-zip the .exe file instead of all the other junk.

I'm unconvinced about Poland based on what I can find about the Commonwealth Navy and actions of the Early Russian Navy in the regions (The Russian Navy is impressive at around this time, but I'm not sure I like the situation of having two split fleets that can easily be bottled up with use of mine fields.

While I doubt I can pull off a convincing Asian, much less a Korean national, I like the historical potential of the Joseon Navy and their preference for lots of strength, guns, and manuverability in all conditions (mostly the guns), and the use of iron-armored ships as early as the 1590s.

Snug... I think Jam Packed is a more apropriat description... Poland is Available in Europe I think (even if it semi sucks because the Romans control the straits) and there is at least one china left in Asia.  Thats it curently as far as I know (although the mods proly know more than I do)

He switched to Poland.

Iberia/that Chinese nations are the only ones left, IIRC.
