So all of this political talk around war made me realize that I have no idea of what kind of diplomatic missions are present from other countries. I know that there was not much that happened diplomatically in the past, and this coupled with the "interesting" view of diplomacy (Im going to assume that the Treaty ports, Opium and all that mess did not happen as per OTL) by the Qing Imperial Cort leave me with no idea outside of one case (Russia). So if anyone who has, or wishes to conduct diplomacy and associated actions with the Middle Kingdom could please let me know to what degree your diplomats are present so I know who I have "official" contact with and who is more "backdoor/Bar".
Hmm, well for my part we have little interaction. There just hasn't been a reason and Bavaria doesn't have many Embassies or Consulates anyhow.
Bavaria has no direct contact with the Middle Kingdom. There are consulates in Japan and the RRC, and an Embassy in Singapore from which relations with Asia are run.
Well, AFAIK, the Austrian's are pretty high on your list of friendly's. The late Dowager Empress had a certain friend whom accompanied her to social events who was of Austrian decent. I'm sure DKB has an Embassy. It would be closed still at this point, but we can discuss that in private.
I was once told that the Middle Kingdom had no diplomatic relations whatsoever except for a single embassy in Italy (I forgot which city, but I think it wasn't Rome), and no interest to change that. I was also told that if I intended to start relations, I would have to come up with a very good story (like the one with the Netherlands).
The MK is a money pit into which you will throw all your gold... ;D
Hmmm the last Middle Kingdom Diplomat to visit Italy was a Prince Pi Luin or some such and he came to Italy from the French and Habsburg embassy's.
He was last seen browsing the Italia MAS boat collection while holding a check book.

I quote:
QuoteMiddle Kingdom: Embassy; No ambassador currently appointed
I'm sure the problem with the ambassador could be shortly fixed.
Well, looks like we have some writing to do, dont we gents :)
