To an mixed crowd, the Paderborn-Delbrück, in Rohirrim colors, took a day to show off in Acapulco. Rumors of ghosts still haunting the ship are still heard from the ships crew. Something about the ship's plumbing being cursed....

Pressure from border nations has caused Rohan to accept a counsel of elders to debate on the new border regulation for the nomadic tribes that follow the game for survival. Some have declared that the removal of their tools is unjust and should never have happened. Locals in Edoras has said that increased tensions with the United Kingdom of America are something they really don't need right now, and that in the days before the Europeans came, they never used gunpowered for the hunt, it being a tool of the "Sarumans of the World". The border tribes have said that they didn't use elven bow then either and many starved, but they have more mobility. The Rohirrim have said that with the elven bows, they should be able to hunt game, though they will have to learn its uses, since it is much larger than the traditional bows of those peoples. The Rohirrim of Edoras hope the have the situation resolved soon without causing more problems with their Norman neighbors.

More sighting have caused the Kingdom of Rohan to formally send a diplomate to France to ask what French merchantmen are doing loitering around Rohirrim waters and in the Caribbean Sea in general. "It would be one thing if they were seen to be going someplace, but these ships just seem to sit in one location for days on end, and it is maddening to know they are their just over the horizon." Rohan suspects the Gran Columbians would also like to know why these vessels are loitering so close to their international waters.

A breakthough! Brandybuck Engineering has declared that they have an engine that works. The engine should be able to power a larger warship for up to 23,000 shp. Workshops are working around the clock to get the prototype ready show, and two others completed for delivery before December in New Beleriand. Arcadia and Shadowfax have been waiting for their new engines long enough. An engine of this type will also be fitted to the Freawine and her sister ship still unbuilt Walda.

August 4, 1903

Swiss battleship Hawaii left port today with the torpedo boat Muzgash onboard. While she does not have the intended steam turbine engine like the Arcadias will receive by the end of the year, the new Triple Expansion Engine from Minas Nin Engines will be quite powerful for a ship of her type. She will easily outrun any other ship of her class and be able to keep up or outrun most ships built before 1900. The Swiss vessel was escorted out by Eomer, Battleship of the Mark, Ostoher, Combat Cruiser of the Mark, and Tol Fuin, Collier of the Mark.

Security within the Mark was raised agian, especially in Edoras. When asked Halath Serni declared that the security was due to rumors of an attempt to steal the Sword of the King...the Sword that was Broken, from Edoras. However, he also said that with the increase of the number of countries placing very high prices on the head of the Baug Agrival Mars, he shouldn't be much of a problem for too much longer. "There are enough professional people that kill for money in the world that the Baug Mars is pretty much a dead man."

The Maori rough play ball team that wears all black confronted the Cheyenne Warriors in Edoras yesterday. The crowd was intensely supportive of the foreigners after hearing what they call the "haka" for the first time. The Warriors were impressed, but gave it their all with the drums and war dance. The larger Maori players managed to outscore the Warriors 22-13. The impressive show has had calls for more international games in the future. Especially with this new Maori team.

Wireless report from Brytta, Battleship of the Mark reprots that she and the fleet are returning home after transfere of the Paderborn-Delbrück to the Brandenburg Navy. Capitan zur See Karl Franz has reportedly taken the vessel as his own for the Kaiser William II. The Rohirrim crew transfered to the Brytta remarked that they were afraid to use the toilets onboard. Comments seem to range from "The plumbing in this ship is certainly noisy, isn't it?" to "They are rather opinionated, it would seem." What this means is unknown, but most of the crew are happy to be off the former Anahuac ship. Most of her lighter arms were not installed due to Brandenburg specifications, though her mounting are all in place, and what guns the Brandenburgians set along were stored in the hold for them to mount when they wished.

August 19, 1903

Wireless from Eomer, Battleship of the Mark reports that Hawaii, Battleship of New Switzerland, has been safely delivered to Hawaii. What the Swiss intend to do with her now that they finally have her will be interesting to see.

Eomer and company have returned to Rohan after delivery of the Hawaii to the Swiss.

September 7, 1903

Brytta and company have returned to New Beleriand after a brief stop at Clipperton Island. Reports say the island is still as it has been, relatively deserted. Patrols of Rohirrm ships continue to make sure that pirate activity from that island is removed. Also what materials and personel from the New Swiss for their part of the canal project pass through that island as a check point before approaching Rohan. Another report from a Westron merchantmen in the area states that the Baug Mars was in Brandenburgian territory recently. The report states that he was selling or attempting to sell the deadly gas the Europeans call Chlorine. The Merchantmen suggested that the Baug was heading for South America, probably to find new buyers. The fleets protected cruisers and other long range vessels have been sent to make ports of call and patrol the Southern Pacific waters to find this deadly and evil business man. Embassies to South American nations have been informed of the Baug's suspected movements and local governments have been informed of Rohan's desire for the man's head. Meanwhile local patrols and customs have been increased now that it is known the Baug Mars in on the move again.

The King's Birthday

With the days festivities, the King went to South Mithlond to see the laying down of the belted cruiser, Starkhorn. Lady Oyama, wife of Lord Harlock said that she intends for this cruiser to be even better than her last vessel, the impressive Orodruin. With the improvements in turbine technology, she hopes to make a fast cruiser that can rival even the Swiss warships in terms of speed and range. And with the superimopsed turrets planned for the design, she expects that even with only 7.5 inch cannon, her cruiser will rival any of the worlds Armored Cruisers in terms of firepower.
