In both designs, x-sectional strength is greater than the longitudinal so you could raise the freeboard a bit in order to gain more overall hull strength. Then you could alter it a bit more so the design actually is less than 40,000 tons. :)
... not that Japan cares about that. :D

The CSA will prefer smaller ships that can be in more places at once, which fire more shells with a larger chance to hit.
An 18" gun looks nice on paper... but we'll stick to something a bit more reasonable.

The CSA's next design s probably going to be some 10,000 tons lighter and carry more on the order of 5x2x15".

not to nitpick but the 20 0,00" / 0,0 mm guns in single mounts, 0,00lbs / 0,00kg shells of the secondary battery arnt going to do much against a TB =P
