Title: Hey battle simulator types...
Post by: Guinness on May 15, 2009, 11:12:47 AM
I'm starting to think I need to learn to sim battles if necessary. I see that Seakrieg 4 is free to download, so I was going to go ahead and download it. What about land battles though? Any recommendations?

I know several have been working on "standardizing" Nverse battle sim practices, which is an effort I wholly support. I'm actually just interested in getting started so I can be non-useless in these regimes in the future.

I made it up as I went along for ground combat.  For naval stuff seekrieg IV as noted.

I adapted some of the rules for GDW's Third World War board games for the Crusade and the Afrikakrieg.  Seemed to work out well enough.  Sooner or later, I'll post an adapted "rule set" for it.

The only thing I can say is pick a War Game you like and play it a few times and then adapt it.... Ive played On to Richmond [US Civil War], a whole bunch of Avalon Hill WWII and WWIII games, Squad Leader, and a few other games that have simmed either the US Civil War or WWII.

Anyone have the Harpoon Rules for the 1st and 2nd World Wars :)
