The aggression of New Switzerland in "claiming" territory in Firanj which rightfully belongs to the Caliphate is outrageously humorous. We hope that these silly Swiss decide to exploit other people's land, and not ours, or we shall have to roast their stomachs in hell.

Perhaps the seeds of a war. If I recall this period correctly, diplomacy tended to be rather....secretive. The world would continue from around 1900 or so until 1914 with more and more alliances forming, because in 1898, the Europeans didn't really think they would be shooting at each other in the near future.....their interests were more on imperialism and colonialism. Japan, China, and Africa seemed to be the primary hot spots...aside from the Americans getting involved in a rather short war with Spain, but that was also a colonial war.
We'll see how the friendships and alliances go...how the world reacts to the wars of this time period. (Bully, let's have a go at them too, shall we?)
I can see some sides forming already, but it it too early to know if those lines will hold, or if events will alter reality into something vastly different.

You've got to be kidding. Either that or your blind. Because last time I checked South Australia was not in West Australia.

There is a third option. The Caliph was going to claim that land, and wants you out.

He has 1/2 of Australia and is angry.gif because I claimed a measly slice. Well if he wants it he's going to have to fight for it. We'll see who roasts in hell then.

Perhaps he is merely playing his part as an Oriental despot well, and is talking as one. The roasting of stomachs in hell would lead me to believe this...

Well he'd better be careful. NS doesnt take threats litghtly. And with a long wide open sea route to Australia it would be in his best interest not to get NS angry. Because NS might just want to try out its new ships "smiles and rubs hands"
This is the official warning to the Caliph.

While the Caliphate would like NS to try out its new ships raiding a supply line that isn't really needed (since Firanj is a self-sufficient colony for the most part), in order to save everybody the expense, we would like to point out that NSs army would meet a quite untimely end facing larger and more advanced infantry and cavalry forces.
We politely suggest that NS keep its filthy hands off of a region it has no business taking.
This is the official ignoring and warning to New Switzerland.
OOC NOTE: No actual insult intended, just upping the ante with insulting language. Hope you don't mind.

Just to make this fair, post your forces in Australia, and dont think of placing your entire forces there.
Also NS has no intention of abandoning its claim, and to recapture your "claim" your going tohave to cross some one else teritory Check here. Theyll probavly get mad too.
So you keep your hands of my teritory.

Your "claim" has no more validity than mine, I hope you note. Putting it in quotation marks is unneccesary.
I'm not crossing anyone's claim but France, and, I might add, you are claiming land that is claimed by France!
Even if I do cross the Netherlands' claim, they too are squatting on French territory, and what forces are they going to be able to supply in the middle of a desert with no ports!
It might be helpful for France to intervene in this whole thing and keep everybody's greedy hands off of it. tongue.gif

France's reaction aside (and yes, there will be one - too many bees are stinging the sleeping bear), I feel the need to put the Moderator hat on for a moment.
Governments sometimes say unpleasant things to each other. People sometimes say unpleasant things to each other. Let's make sure we don't confuse the two.
This can be done in a few ways:
-Posting in-character responses as diplomatic notes, which will start along the lines of:
QUOTE
This note is delivered to the Government of XXX by the Government of BBB on the morning of 4 April 1898. It reads:
Dear XXX. BBB protests your expropriation of Emptyland, and will eat your liver with a nice salad and a glass of Chianti if you persist.[/]
-Avoiding mixing in- and -out-of- character responses in the same post
-Or, if you do have in- and out-of- character responses in the same post, italicize or put in quotations the in-character part.
As always, I expect respectful dialogue out-of-character; in-character unpleasantries are acceptable to a point, but if it causes out-of-character problems, I'll be unhappy.
Just a friendly reminder; I don't see any intentional unplesantry here yet, only some confusion on the in/out of character issue.
Thanks, guys.

There are other ways to defend you territory.

I put a formal claim, you havent. Thats what I used quotation mark.
QUOTE

I sugest you keep France out of this. It could be for your own good.
End of note.
Yeah I guess we have to cool down. I also see the problem with in/out Ill see if I can fix it.

NOTE: ALL IN CHARACTER!
June 30, 1898
To New Switzerland:
The Caliph has apparently had a mix-up with information gathered from his intelligence bureau. The heads of those who have caused a disturbance in the wonderful peace between our nations are rolling...literally.
To All Nations Whom This May Concern:
All claims in Australia should be withdrawn, as Frnace has prior claims to it all.

To Caliph:
NS understands and apologizes for any misunderstanding.
It seems some of our more aggresive commanders wanted to try out their new toys. For some unknown wink.gif reason their paychecks have dissapered. Also suddenly we had to chart the Auletians wink.gif , and of course they are crucial for that job.
On claim:
The claim will not be removed, as NS cares less for the Evil Empire's claim.

The DKB will not rescind any claims to its territories in Australia, as development of a capital has already commenced...
