I am starting a new job on Friday, Aug 22. As I can't seem to be able to pay my bills at my current Security job I will be going to school to drive semi trucks. I will be gone for 2 weeks for class and then back home for a day or 2 before over-the-road training. This is to last 7-10 days, then home again for another couple days. After that I'll be on the road about 2 weeks at a time. I will be getting a laptop w/ wireless as soon as I have the $$, but until then after Thursday I will be very sporadic, if on at all. So...If anyone has anything I'll need to address, please PM me w/ it if it is something that won't be general knowledge for a while and I'll tell you my response. OR if current, please post ASAP so I can react accordingly. Don't worry, I'm not leaving, just won't be around a lot for the next month or so. Sorry for the inconvenience.
No problem with slightly lower activity - we've seen worse ...
Borys
You do what you gotta do. Hopefully the career transition goes smoothly.
On a bright note, I may actually be able to meet some of your N. American players at some point on my travels throughout the US and possibly Canada (Yes Rocky, be afraid, be very afraid). ;)
Red tape at the border may save me yet, young Sachmle.
A refrain commonly heard among locals on the freeways of Atlanta: #&$%ing out of state truckers!
Good luck for your new job.
Jef ;)

Ah, but alas. I've already been to Canuckistan, twice. The red tape won't be able to hold me back...
Well... if you ever end up in Central IL in your wanderings about... say so.
Thanks all for the good luck wishes. If anyone in US/Can is interested in Face-to-Face, PM me a phone number/address so I can contact you if I'm in your area to see if you're available to meet. I will be leaving tonight at 0200 for training. Back sometime on the 6th of Sept for day or two, then out again for a week or two.
Well all, I'm off to bed. Then off to Columbus, OH @ 2am to catch the bus to Green Bay. Back in 2 weeks or so. Later.
Oh, all NUS defenses are set on kill, unless NZ shows up, then their on disintegrate.
Good luck, dude!
I'm home!!! ;D I'm licensed!! ;D I'm leaving again on Monday :'(
Good news ;)
Welcome back to Alianza ;)

And there was much rejoicing!
Only among you Europeans. Us North Americans might encounter him on the road! :P
Seriously though: congratulations! Enjoy the nice fall driving weather before it starts snowing!
Congrats, man, that's great news. Now I know to watch my back on the highway. :P
But how will you know it's me? There are LOTS of large orange semi's out there that say Schneider on them. ;D ;D ;D
Please let me know when you are crossing Reno if you ever have to.
Then I can stay at home safe :P >:-).

If you're near Cleveland, I'm guessing you won't be anywhere near my town.
We're hard by the Pacific, and the main highway in through the coastal mountains is a little curvy, for example, one of the first warning signs on 7mile grade is for a turn that starts about N60W and 300 feet later your heading slighly SE, about a 140 degree turns :)

About as far from civilisation (read: Europe) it is possible to get then?
Hey, we've got paved roads, (mostly) all of our teeth, and the world's busiest airport here in North American Georgia. Isn't that worth anything?
*chuckles*
I think there holding our domestic beer brands against us. That and our butchery of the Queens English.... ;D ;D

Not quite, but somewhat in the "sticks".
It is indeed a long long long way to Tipperary (or other areas in Europe). About 4-5 hours depending on traffic to an international airport...THEN the flight to Shannon/Heathrow/Degaul/Prague etc.
However we do have a history of trucking in relation to those sticks (they aren't so large now)
We also have our own brewery in town, don't have to accept domestic beer :)
Good news - I found my spike belts, and have them sitting beside the road just in case I need 'em.
Leaving for Chicago soon to pick up my truck. Then off Monday for real work. Catch y'all in a week or two.
Re trucks and automobiles in general - I'm taking driving lessons at present. Hopefully I'll get my license somewhere early next year.
I'm driving a New Beetle with speedometre scaled in miles. After I hit 40 mph I felt like breaking the sound barrier!
As I'm learning to drive on an automatic gearbox, not a stick, like 99% of the population, I'm looked down upon as an effeminite wuss :D
Borys
You'd find roads around where I live fearsome. We've got 16 lane wide urban interstates which are posted with a 55 mph (88 kph) speed limit, but on which people regularly do 80 mph (128 kph) +.
thats funny, we have 2 lane wide "highways" posted at 55mph where the @#$% tourists like to go...oh say 25mph...
Ah the highways around here aren't as extreme... We have 6-8 lane wide highways posted at 55 mph speed limit. All the drivers go at 65-70 mph with the exception of some idiots who like zigzagging in traffic at +85 mph.
HA the bigest road around here is the 2 lane state highway and its posted at 65 LOL
This week is going to be nuts (school, engineering project, last exams before finals), so I'll probably need to wait until Friday or Saturday to fix up Imperial China's reports for 1913 and 1914. :(
Not a problem. Good to know.
Hello all. This is to inform you all that I may be unavailable for a while. Unfortunately my previous career choices have bit me square in the ass and I am now unemployed. As such my landlady is evicting me AND my car doesn't work anymore. So...I'm going to live w/ my mother and her boyfriend. They have internet, but I do not know if it's dail-up/DSL/Cable/Whatever. If dail-up my availability will be limited as they will want to be able to use their phone at night and during the day I will be job hunting more often than not. I fully intend to participate further and have no desire to quit the sim at this time. I appreciate the understanding of all parties involved and apologize to all. Hopefully this will be a short term problem, but w/ the current job market one never knows. We could very well be looking at the next "Great Depression" as employers continue to cut jobs. Of course as a single (legally, not realistically) white male the Gov't could care less if I have a place to live or food to eat (I.E. I'm not eligible for ANY assistance). SO...wish me luck, but please don't pity me. I put myself in this position.
I'll hope to see you online again soon, but more importantly, good luck with the job hunting.
Good Luck Sam :)
GOOD LUCK!!!
Sam, sorry to hear that.
You are lucky to have your mom agreeing on that.
If nothing else works, we got a basement that could be revamped to a living/bedroom, and a rather good wireless network at home.
Otherwise, we could use a forrester to maintain a few acres of forrest in exchange for food and lodging (and a small handout)
:o
GOOD LUCK ARAMIS
;) ;) ;)

If I could get to Belgium I'd probably take you up on that right now. I don't mind cutting trees/brush and doing yard work.
Sorry to hear that, hope your circumstances improve soon :)
You're welcome.
I already arranged the sleeping spot.
2 options. Over here, or closer to the woods, with Mum in law to keep you fed.
Don't want to get anyone's hopes up..but WE BOTH GOT JOBS!!!!!!! It doesn't start til Jan 5th though..so we're trying to work something out w/ our landlady (She's screwed too...3 other 3 bedrooms have gone vacant this month do to similar circumstances as mine.)
If all goes well, no move. If not, then things are still looking up because at least I'll have income soon. Everybody cross your fingers.
*crosses fingers*
Awesome news.
HALLELUJAH, HALLELUJAH, HALLELUJAH!!!
