Welcome aboard Guinness
With that name... you are always welcome ;)
As you can see, Carthaginian built a nice BBs fleet. The BBs increase year after year in sizes , displacements & armaments.
Carthaginian 's 3 last BBs are 18500T -1909 - 4T2x13"5
We are now in 1912 & some Countries built 30.000t BB :o
Could I sugest to you for the next CSA BBs to add 2 turrets
1 center superfiring & naturaly a B turret superfiring.
You could see & use CSA Techno
Thanks to post your BB SpringSharp in "New Ship Designs"
Hmmmmmm...
In Europe... it smell powder...war is comming
Jef ;)
Wellcom aboard, Guiness.
Would those in the know explain to Guiness that the CSA has a stake in one of the THREE Atlantic-Pacific canals?
1 - Colombian - operations
2 - French - operational?
3 - Riddermark headed consortium, with CSA a member - operational?
I admit to not keeping track of this, being uninterested.
Borys
I'm not certain what you're asking us to explain, above and beyond what you just said...
I presume he wants someone to explain the most important (not) thing about them, $THE MONEY$.
Money is secondary
:D :D :D
The most important is to have" hot neurones" about the different Springsharps (BBs, ACs, DDs...) & the building program.
:D :D :D
Jef ;)
I meant the Canals, does CSA pay $$ to build, to use, etc... I'm not even sure on that myself. I'm sure some $$ was spent building it, but I don't know if it's done.
The other canals opened in 1909; CSA has some kind of stake and rights in the Rohirrim canal through Lake Nicaragua, but I don't know the particulars. Ithekro would be the man to speak to it.
The CSA has a serious stake in the Great Canal.
After the Anuhuac and the Russians bowed out, the UKA and CSA stepped in. These countries have the right to sail their warships trough, without any questions asked.
Thank you for the warm greetings! I'm still trying to absorb the reams of information here to get on a good footing for future plans. I suppose this is what Presidential Transition must feel like!
I suspect that I've come on-board at a good time for the CSA, as we've begun to look more outward, while finding more unity within.
On the Naval front: we do indeed have the core of a strong fleet. With coasts on either side of the American continent to defend, and with the hopes of growing overseas trade, there is much to do at the CSA admiralty these days.
Our focus in the short to medium term is a full review of the fleet, with an eye toward scrapping inefficient and obsolete tonnage, as well as a short term building program designed to give the CSA navy longer legs as well as further developing domestic ship building capabilities.
As those who read the New Projects board have seen, we're working to develop a new faster capital ship, which some might regard as a Battlecruiser, while other's might see it as a Fast Battleship. More to come on that in the coming days. It is hoped that a class of two of these, accompanied by light cruisers of similar range and a new fleet oiler can be on the ways soon.
But more on that later... :)
No need to scrap, you can always sell. ;)
New Zion would be glad to take some of those older ships of your hands...

I'll keep you in mind. My goal for this weekend is to finish getting my affairs in order so I can have an idea for future building plans, and what might be available on the market in the next 12 months or so.
I expect to have some armored and/or protected cruisers available, maybe some torpedo craft, and possibly a Battleship or two.
Question: I think it's the 2nd Half of 1912 right now. Is that right?

Start with the 1912H1 report. Carthaginian did 1911H2.

Ok, thanks!
I might need a little help making sense of Carthaginian's 1922H2 report. I'm transposing it to a spreadsheet now...
P3D has a nice spreadsheet for figuring budgets, you should be able to find a copy somewhere here. I downloaded it so long ago I forget where it is.

Actually, I just found it.
It's under rules/useful tools on the board.
Good, glad you found it.
Plus there are the folks like me, who do not know how to use spreadsheets, and do it by hand&calculator :)

Luddite!
Guinness - I don't hear any concern from others about CSA, so consider it yours. As your Gran Colombian neighbour, I'll be most interested in seeing what you do. If you want to talk out-of-character about Central America and CSA/Colombian relations, just drop me a note.
