Title: *CSA IS WITHOUT A LEADER!!!*
Post by: Sachmle on June 14, 2008, 06:37:07 PM
Got this email from Carthaginian today.

QuoteSorry, Sam... School's a lot more hectic lately, married life is taking up most of my spare time, and the constant battle against people that wanted to build 'teh uberz' instead of making a competition of it just broke me. I don't know if I'll be back to N-verse... the Hood clones, and the constant battle to get tech to fight them, is just not worth it.

I'll be around here if ya lookin for me, but I don't think that I'll be back to the CSA... unless I get a chance to help build one in RL. ;)

Hope that ya'll have some dry ground to stand on up there... it's looking pretty darn wet on the news. Lemmie know how ya doing.

Jamie

I guess the CSA is open for a new player?

Oops: Forgot Ledeper and Korpen. Sorry!!! :-[

He and I seemed to bang heads together a fair bit, but he certainly did a good job with the CSA.

Sometimes having one to bang heads w/ is a good thing, and yes he did.

Yes, me... though news-wise I am useless...

Maddox is still here, just having major time and inspiration problems atm.

Valles rekindled me a bit, but the Polynesia Issue fizzled.

And this is another reason.  You can see me run for tests at 1/5th of the intended power.

8 kg of Hardox 650 Steel swinging around with 1 ton of pneumatic power. And that in our garden.

Nice...looks nasty with that blade. What's the strongest thing you've sliced with that blade?

Getting back to the topic. I have to say I do agree with Carthaginian. Won't be more than a few years before Yamatos start showing up. Pity to lose him, he had interesting designs and good pics to go with them.

If I had time I could take it, but then I would rip the country in half and give half to Mesoamerica... and have a Mexican Empire... and...

About the axeblade.  The "sharp" side is 1/3" wide, about as sharp as a plank.  Not ment to slice, but like a sledgehamer to smash and deliver shock damage.
Just middle age armor technology. If you can't slice off a limb, you just liquify the bone by smashing it to dust.  We try to shake off the chips from the printboard.

But this isn't the only robot I'm working on, unfortunatly.

Unless constrained by treaty, cost, or design philosophy, there's no real reason warships wouldn't continue growing.  Bear in mind that eight years from now, historically, we'd have the South Dakotas, Lexingtons, Akagis and Tosas laid down.  They're all a heck of a lot larger than anything currently on our board.

Folks, this underscores a real need to bring in some new players - and to eliminate or reduce, where possible, the things that are deterring them.

I have a couple of friends who might be interested in playing; the problem is none of them know springsharp and they are board gamers.  With the latter I strongly suspect that they might treat the game as RISK writ large.  If people want I can approach them.

Sorry to hear about Carthaginian the CSA was one of the best fleshed out nations; I suggest we hold it in reserve for a few months in case he changes his mind.

They were part of my Starfire Gaming group, all have some general info on history and stuff.  Of the three I suspect that only one has even heard of the naval battles listed.  And he is mostly into US history & the like so WW2 stuff.

I will as them to see what they are up to in their free time.  Italy and of course New Switzerland and Deutche Kaiserreich Brandenburg are open amoung the bigger nations.  Perhaps they could fill in there I will send out a message tonight to them.

I might have a lead on DKB, but have to see what happens.  It shouldn't deter anybody else from trying to find a player for it.

I have a few friends too, at least one is well verse in military history and writes a bit of Sci Fi. I'll see if he's interested.
