Title: On Vaction
Post by: Carthaginian on July 26, 2007, 01:10:56 PM
Starting tomorrow, I'll be gone for four days on vacation, followed by drill next weekend... so I won't be too active over the next few days. Hopefully, things won;t get too crazy while I'm gone.

2 days at Disney World... me, my G/F and an engagement ring...
AAR to follow.

She said Yes.
Tentative date is mid-December.

Thanks, Borys!

Congratulations!

Mid-December, eh?  I got married two days after Christmas - the only time my wife's family of pipeline workers could be amassed in one location.

LOL... I can understand that one Rock. MY Mom's brothers (all 5 of them) once worked offshore for Exxon (one still does). I can remember having Christmas in August because that would be the only month that they would all be ashore at the same time.

Thanks!

Ahoj!
Polish supersition holds that months with an "r" in the name are auspicious for marriages.
The Polish name for December has a "r" in it, so you win on both counts.

In Hungary  Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday Friday, Saturday and Sunday are considered unlucky for marriages.

LOL... here, we believe that days ending in 'Y' will result in a bad marriage, so i think Hungary has it right. ;)

Thanks, all. We're deliriously happy and so is her father- if only her mother was.

There are people who consider Hungarians to be the most dour, grim nation in Europe ...
Dunno why, so full of cheer, optimistic ...

Most joyful blessings to the betrothed !! May you be happy together and live a long full life filled with love.

Of course her mother isn't happy... after all, as future Mother-In-Law she has a long and hallowed tradition to uphold... ;D Just shower her with flowers and little presents and never forget to compliment her on her cooking and such. Small attentions like that work like a charm and are most beneficial to Mother-In-Law/Son-In-Law relations.
Well... you can always try.

I must admit, my home made Blackheart (kind of distilled mead) endeared me in the heart of my mum in law.
