I'd prefer the faster razee for cruiser-killing reasons.

Some of the carrier battery needs a bit of tweaking.  Are you able to build box carriers at this point?

TacCovert4

I have to have separate takeoff and landing decks right now.  Which is being accomplished by having the takeoff deck down at hangar level and the bridge at the fore end of the landing deck.  So on the armored box design,  the front of the box has an opening.

What problems with the batteries?

Twenty guns in twenty twin mounts, in one case.  Not major stuff, but it might save you a few tonnes somewhere.

Ahh.  Yes, a small problem.  Probably when I swapped from the simpler single mounts to the twin mount and hoist on the 30mm pom pom, the latter having better sustained fire.

Looking to DDs, I have spent some time reconfiguring the I-Class.  An AA Suite for self defense of 12 x 30mm AA guns, a strong main battery of 3x2x130mm guns, and a general purpose mix of Hydrophones/Depth Charges/Torpedoes.  All on a ship pushing better than 32kts sustained, with splinter protection to protect against the ship or its main battery getting popped by a lucky hit or near miss by DD or cruiser-grade weapons.

It's pretty capable.

I had been looking at a pure gun platform,  but couldn't get it right.   I tried pulling most of the splinter protection off, but it didn't really make for room to put anything useful.  I'll probably look at night fighting devices aboard moving forward as we get towards radar.

It is a gun combat destroyer because it only has 4TT.
Its weight reserve is low.

The torpedoes falling off are a natural result of the Mayan war and the complete ineffectiveness of torpedoes in battle, even in near ideal circumstances.

And yes, she doesn't have a whole lot of weight to spare, of course she is a dd.  Refit options for this class would most likely be a 110 or 115mm dual purpose gun, which would be weight neutral and actually free up a little.

The I-Class DD is considered suitable as a large DD or Leader for the Caribbean and Atlantic forces, as its range issues are made moot by the availability of ports to refuel.  For the Pacific, a larger radius of action is required simply to operate with a fleet.
