1923 Norse Summary

Colonial IC has been built by type "Interior Average" to simplify things.
A couple BP have been built.

Land/Air/Dp/Fort points have been built.
Quebec and to a lesser degree Halifax have been fortified.
Docks have been built on the Great lakes (1 CDS) and Quebec, with one building in Halifax.

All ships were upgraded to 1918 FC in 1920.5 ish
The pre-1897 ships were scrapped early, lacking modern guns.
The pre 1900 ships were retained as reserves until more recently.
The 1900 Sub series was retained until the 1920 sub tech was researched, they are now being scrapped.

Once the 1915 naval gun tech was researched, a new series of guns and mounts was researched to give any future player flexibilty

Capital Ships.
The Ullr & Skadi , 41000 ton BCs have just been completed. I believe those were posted ages ago.

The Vili & Vi, 39000 ton placeholder battleships have been started. I did a quick SS of
39000t, 3T4 405L50, 355mm belt, 120mm deck, 23knots.

Cruisers
12 of Fox's 1915 Danae 4801t class were built
10 of Fox's 1918 Gielo 5800t class were built
4 built, 4 building of a 1920 Valkyrie (named after) 6000t – This is a 155mm placeholder

Destroyers
Khyrses designed the 1500 ton, 155mm armed Snekkja DD.  Since he was the player, that has been retained.
28 of the 1916 Snekkja were built.  Since countries repeatedly found destroyer sized platforms lively for 6" guns, these were rearmed with 120L50 in the FC refits.

With the first Snekkjas seatrials proving the 155mm gun problematic, in 1917.5 the Idun class of 1500 ton DDs was laid down.

16 I-Class are built. The Idun Class are place holders, they conceptually have 120mm guns, 1908 Torps and basic hydrophone packages.

12 J-Class have been built and 4 are building. The Jotun class are placeholder evolutions of the I class with 120mm guns, 1913 Torps and enhanced hydrophone packages

2 K-Class are building. The Kadir class are 2000ton placeholders with 120mm and the 1920 ASW tech.

Minesweepers
Long one of the leaders in MSW, they have 40ish regular and aux MS ships, and build 2 aux per HY.

MTBs
With many many sea inlets, the Norse build 15 MTBs/HY

Submarines
The numerous 1900 series subs are being scrapped now that the 1920 tech is available
6x 750t 1915 SS per year were built.
With the 1920 tech, the new 250t subs are intended to replace the antiquated 1900 subs.
So 4x 750t 1920 SS per year &
6x 250t 1920 SS are being built per half year.

Did they beat the drum slowly,
Did they play the fife lowly,
Did they sound the death march, as they lowered you down,
Did the band play the last post and chorus,
Did the pipes play the flowers of the forest

Norse Place Holders

The point of the placeholders was to allow the build plan to move forward,
while providing the tonnage to make a reasonable warship.

For the short term, if there was not a previously posted design, then I contented myself with quick designs to make sure the concept could be done. i.e., can the Iberians manage a 'fast nevada' at that tonnage.  In some cases - like can a 1500ton DD be reasonable? Or a 6000ton cruiser with 155mm ?  The answer was...yes. No Sim was bothered with.

The long term expectation was that a design competition...this time with more firm rules and ranked choice outcome... would be used to determine the ships built.

But in the meantime we'd have an idea of what's floating out there.
