This is for naval ships which have minelaying as the primary role
It is presumed there are harbor vessels for the defensive fields.

As of 1914 , the two Ostrich class (140mines) are the only dedicated minelayers.

Several protected cruisers also have the ability.
1902 PC 2-3 : 160 mines ea.
1904 PC 4-5 : 160 mines ea.
1906 PC 6-7 : 160 mines ea.

Did they beat the drum slowly,
Did they play the fife lowly,
Did they sound the death march, as they lowered you down,
Did the band play the last post and chorus,
Did the pipes play the flowers of the forest

*So named for it's large eggs. The idea of a cruiser for offensive minelaying was short lived,
as the protected cruisers were given that capability.

The Sahog, or Hare class uses the hull of the Palang Oceanic Destroyer as the basis for a high speed minelayer.

The fast, agile nature, along with the ability to leave little pellets behind led to the name.

The main battery is two two-gun  mounts mounted forward, leaving a clear mine deck aft.

Amidships is an elevated platform between the torpedo tubes, arranged en echelon are the two pairs of medium AA. This allows good sky arcs, and good engagement on the opposite broadside

For/aft, Paired twin GAST AAMG
are mounted to allow engagement of any plane seeking to strafe the length of the ship. These can also bear on the beam.

All guns are given bulletproof 1/4" (6mm) spray shields.

Range :
This class is meant to be a fast minelayer, so sustained high speed is important.

The savings from the geared turbines forms the 'emergency reserve', of 640nm at 16knts.

The ship can sustain 30knots for 30 hours, allowing a rapid dash out 450nm and back,
or it can manage a 1100nm radius at 22knots.

The 534 tons of fuel oil allows :
30.9 hours at 30 knots for 928nm.
31.6 hours at 29.85kts (75% power) (943nm)
104 hours at 22 knots. (2300nm at 22knts)
325 hours (13.5days) at 16knots (5210nm at 16knots

The Xwarg (Live Coal) Class Fast Minelayer is envisioned as a follow on to the Sahog class.

The consideration that AA rounds will have to added to the CP/SAP/AP loadout has increased the standard ammo supply from 220-250 to 330 rounds. Conceptually they expect AA engagements to be short bursts as a squadron of planes come through, not long engagements.
