Hull space for machinery, storage, compartmentation is excellent
Room for accommodation and workspaces is excellent
Ship has slow, easy roll, a good, steady gun platform
Excellent seaboat, comfortable, can fire her guns in the heaviest weather

These vessels are designed to operate in rivers such as the Tigris, or Don. They can be shipped by rail in sections. The propellers are in tunnels to avoid fouling.  Overall, they somewhat resemble the Confederate Casement Ironclads, but with only the middle third in the casement, allowing guns to be mounted fore and aft.

Draft is that of the OTL Insect Class, which operated in the Tigris River.

The forward 120mm is a conventional naval rifle.
The 118L20 is a howitzer.
The twin 15mm guns are Gardner handcranked machine guns on the roof.
10mm gunshields are provided.
A pair of 45mm QF are casement mounted amidships. This can fire fore/aft, or engage targets on the beam. While lacking the punch of the main guns, they allow suppressive fire totally under armor, and the small HE charge in the gun is sufficient to quickly engage and destroy enemy field peices.

The raised amidships superstructure is covered by 10mm armor and slanted back at 30 degrees (for a Cos30 O/H = 2.8m), this is  expected to defeat all small arms.
The main belt covers from +1.7 to -0.3m with 20mm armor, protecting the engines and magazines. This is expected to defeat any field gun HE rounds, as field guns will not be fitted with

Range is for 10 days.

Miscellaneous weights :
3t - Extra ventilation
0t - SR Radio 1919

Decks :
+4.2
+1.7  1st Deck
-1.2   Engineering deck.

Designed to eventually replace the Dolphin and Recalde classes as a gunboat and patrol vessel, able to act as a fleet auxiliary if needed.

As a gunboat, it can operate in fairly shallow water, and act as a patrol vessel.  The 165mm rifles will offer heavy and rapid direct support fire, while the twin 163mm howitzers allow engagement of targets screened from direct fire.
The 57 and 15mm offer less explosive anti-personnel options.

If pressed into fleet service,
As a Close Escort it would serve as an intermediate screen against MTBs and DDs, while also being equipped to detect and prosecute ASW attacks.

Against attacking destroyers, the powerful 165mm battery is expected to wreck havok. While the light armor is expected to preserve the firepower and floatation of the vessel.

Any offensive role would be at night, possibly as a follow up to an earlier attack. The Hulesmeyer device has not proved an effective early warning system, but is viewed as promising for night time formation steaming.

The armor is meant to defeat QF weapons as might be found on destroyers or smaller cruisers.  To allow substantial engine room, an armor deck is used, at the 2.3m level, leaving only 1 deck level unarmored.

A reversion to underwater torpedo tubes sees 2 fitted in the bow, using submarine technology. These are forward of the main bulkhead, and are protected by the forward armored deck.

Intended as a Coastal/ Riverine gunboat
as an successor to the 'Dragonfly' style casement vessel,
and affordable in large numbers, while being small
enough to be transportable as deck cargo.
In many areas the vessel can be transported by
rail on flatcars as well, though the 4m width is wider
than the flatcars normally transport, despite
the Parthian 1.8m wide gauge railways.
This means throughcuts, tunnels and signals can be issues

The advantage of the casement is all ammunition handling
can occur under armor, but above water, allowing
the draft to be very shallow.

For this version, the goal is to dispense with the
armored casement.

The desire is fore/aft gun basal ring gun mounts, where
shells can be safely fed from below decks via stairs
and crews handing shells up.
This also requires keeping shell weights down.

TDS defaults as 1.2m high,
which I take to mean Engineering is at that level,
while Keel is 1.26 - a very flat bottom.

For a 2.5m (8ft) deck height, that puts +1.3 as the minimum height,
but I like engineering to be at least 3.5m
so 2.3 is the Main deck.

Length is constrained to allow 2 to be constructed in a 50ft dock at once.

Armor :
Main belt is +2.3 to - 0.50

The Fore / Quarter deck are protective decks
while the citadel has the armor deck capping the belt.

Engineering :
8knots cruise ensures that even fast river currents can be easily over come.
This only takes 35shp.
10 knots is 88shp, or 250%.

Oil sprayed coal is relied on, as wood can be used in a pinch.

To allow maximum manuevers with differential propellors,
turbogenerators are fitted.

   Excellent machinery, storage, compartmentation space
   Excellent accommodation and workspace room
Ship has slow, easy roll, a good, steady gun platform
Good seaboat, rides out heavy weather easily

Guns :
165mm are primary direct fire weapon, able to engage aircraft. .
They are primitive DP guns in the 1929 mounting,

163mm HOW are bombardment or ASW

37mm are primary AA sited for 6 Fore/aft/beam

Paired GAST 23mm are anti-strafing.

Borrowed from submarines are 4 bow tubes
firing 21" torpedoes

Armor :
Armored Deck at 1.4m caps Belt
Belt extends from 1.4m to -1.5m
Bow and Stern are protective decks.

Belt is sloped outwards at 10 degrees
2.9/cos(10) = 2.9447 = 2.95

TDS :
The ship has no TDS,
relying on it's small size, high manueverability via electric drive, and really shallow draft.
...really shallow.
The Standard torpedo settings of 11ft will go under the ship. Shallower torpedo settings risk breaching a wave trough in even light seas.

Engines:
Diesel electric will allow full speed forward and reverse, making a more difficult target....but also allowing navigation up streams far easier.

148 x 0.3 = 44.4= 44
148 x 0.25 = 37 = 37

Range : +50% = 4950 , enough to go between two bases, and return if the base is gone.

The armament  is adequate for stopping merchants, landing boarding parties, or - using the batteries- silently gliding into harbors to lan the marines to enforce laws.

The fully armored hull and armament make it effective against insurgencies and for amphibious landings.

Like many Parthian gunboats, it has a mixture of direct fire weapons and a howitzer, supplemented by rapid fire cannon, allowing it to support the landing parties effectively.

The vessel is large enough and capable of ocean transit, but with the 11shallow draft and low seaboard would be unpleasent in bad seas.

Armor :
The hull is fully armored from the weather deck down to -1m below WL
The belt heights are averaged to account for the bow flare.

The main armored deck is at the weather deck level, capping the belt.
