Due to political pressure and internal affairs the Queen ordered all dutch citizens to leave Indochina immeditally.
All government offices are to be turned over to French authorities upon hteir arrival.

The Queen was over heard saying 'That was 2nd biggest mistake of my reign'(south australia being the first).

Den Haag

The Habsburg Ambassador, Hackenbusch, is making quiet enqueries in well informed circles as to the causes of the Indochinean volte face.

They What?

The Dutch Queen gives back North indochina....

Is there any reason given? It's a fertile and industrious prime estate.

Minister Capet, it seems the Dutch have other idea's about industrious and fertile.
They are already getting out, the higher officials are already moving to the East Indies. In short, they are vacating the premisses, and they aren't giving us any time to react. Minister Paixhans already ordered the 6th corps zouaves to move out to protect the civilians.

Reports do give another reason, the same reason why we have troubles inland in South Indochina. Rebels and robbers. We suspect they are getting supplies, but we can't pin anyone to that. Premier Palpaté suspected the New Swiss, but then, neither the brownshirts, nor the hawaians have any vested interest there.

Oh well, it seems we have a job to do. Keep order and peace in Indochina. Send R.S Piere as governors aide, they will need it.

Minister Capet, what about the Middle Kingdom? They have an historical interest in the area.
And untill the situation in Brazil isn't solved, we cannot work further on the Middle Kingdom peace. Prince Pu Lun regrets the limited amount of work we can do with the Habsburger censor, but he cannot leave his post.

Oh well, we'll have to avoid the Middle Kingdom getting adventerous. Those New Swiss haven woken the dragon. Beijing is preparing armies at a incredible rate, and the industrial Prowess, greatly enhanced by the masses is growing exponential. All because a petty thing about due rent. Bunch of fools.

OOC,
JLDog did send me a PM where he explains why he isn't able to play.
The Netherlands were already in a kind of Stasis, but as of now, it is a NPC.

There are many raised eyebrows in the DKB capital, and a flurry of diplomatic messages pass between Neue Brandenburg and Peking...

The prospect of France and the Middle Kingdom fighting for Indochina does not exactly trouble Gran Colombia...

Orange does not understand the unprecedented haste with which the Middle Kingdom decided to move, as if they are eager again to share border with the French. Orange would prefer to see the Administration North Indochina handed over to a third party after it was secured by Chinese and French troops, to avoid further tensions which would be unavoidable otherwise.

Third party here means a country that does not have peculiar ties with either France or China. Like BCF, Italy, the Ottomans, Rohan, and the USA.

OOC: Ottoman Indochina....that would be interesting. Though I know that at least the Vietnamese really, really hate muslims.

Nor does it trouble New Switzerland. The prospect of having its two main enemies fight it out is a dream come true. However NS will probably not remain on the sidelines but help out whoever apears weaker (France seemingly the weaker party right now). The longer they fight the more losses they suffer. *evil grin*

I guess that discualifies NS. biggrin.gif

Siam right now has the best claim to the area, most of it was Siamese territory up to ten years ago when it was taken by the French.

Hanoi Underground, August 15th

The Imperialists have fled! People of Viet Nam, in a moon's time His Majesty Emperor Hàm Nghi will be crowned King of a free and independant Viet Nam! Captured and exiled by the imperialists the Emperor managed to escape and has returned!

QUOTE
With the death of T? ??c in 1883, a succession of Emperors were quickly elevated and just as quickly deposed. The teenage Emperor Hàm Nghi left the Imperial Palace of Hu? in 1885 and started the C?n V??ng, or "Aid the King", movement. Hàm Nghi asked the people to rally with him to resist the French. He was captured in 1888 and exiled to French Algeria. A former mandarin Phan ?ình Phùng continued the C?n V??ng movement until his death in 1895.

From Wikipedia

OOC Ham Nghi has around 10,000 well equiped (ex-swiss G98 rifles aquired via Siam) and trained (L3 by Siam) troops under his command. He is being supported by the Thai. There's an estimated 30,000 more guerillas in Vietnam with varying levels of training equipment, and loyalties, plus a certain group under a certain Colonel Kurtz...
