Calamacil, Combat Cruiser of the Mark, has returned to PĂ´rto Alegre to releave Shadowfax and Arcadia. The two Battleships have been sent back to New Beleriand to start their regular services with the Fleet of the Eastern Seas.

July 4, 1904

Talks between the Eastern Kingdom and the United Kingdom of American have started in Rivendell. It is expected to result in a peace accord between the two parties.

White Smoke Boilers has figured out a 40%/60% oil and coal combinations for boilers that can be fitted to large vessels. The first vessel to be fitted with this style of boiler will be the Brandenburgian Armored Cruiser under construction in Rohan. It is suspected that the Mark will use this technology in a new combat cruiser to be laid down next year, and perhaps in the Battleship Walda to be laid down later this year.

July 12, 1904

Goldwine and Theoden, Battleship of the Mark, along with escorting cruisers have gone to the Confederate States of America to deliver payment to the Confederate government and deliver crews to the eight cruisers purchased by the Mark. The vessels are being crewed by skeleton crews from other ships just to get them to their various drydocks around the Mark. All will be inspected, and several will make the journey around the Horn to the west coast of New Beleriand or even as far away as Dol Amroth for their rebuilds. The large distances needed to be covered due to a lack of docks on the eastern coast of New Beleriand for all eight cruisers.

Rohan has decided to maintian a presence in Brazil's port cities in the form of cruisers and small units of marines in order to defend the local populations from Anahuac rebels. With the lack of French action in the matter, Theocro King has called for a diplomatic mission to France to confront the French Republic about this situation in an effort to at least give the Mark enough peace of mind to pull its forces from Brazil.

July 23, 1904

Denethor Cotton, Marshal of Gondor, has called for the reforming of ten Micelhusl of the Mark in New Beleriand. Men from New Beleriand, New Rhun, and Hondoras have answered his call and the ten Micelhusl of the Mark should be formed by December. Marshal Cotton believes that with the raising of these units the Army of Rohan and the Rohirrim based Army of Hondoras may be able to go home to Rohan after over five years of service in Gondor.

August 2, 1904

Two Destroyers of the Mark, Ramheart and Middleton, where commissioned today into the Fleet of the Norhern Seas. With the increased importance of the Rohirrim Navy, the destroyer fleet will be increased to properly defend the Battleships of the Mark. Six more vessels of this type are presently under construction in New Beleriand and Rohan.

(Theoden's Day)

Today we remember one king who helped shape our destiny. Theoden King is remembered as a legend, but is considered to have been an actual living person by historians, as the written evidence from the archives of Edoras, Mundburg, and Dol Amroth along with some mention from other coninental sources indicates that he did live and that he was king of Rohan 8,205 years ago. His grave is also still present in Edoras. While most of his reign is lost to history, just that he was considered to have decayed during the last decade of the Third Age until his spirit was rekindled just before the great battles before the Hornburg and Mundburg that pushed the darkness back to Mordor. Theoden died in front of Mundburg at the hieght of the battle, but his spirit remains to remind us to keep our head in the light and charge when the worse seems to be upon you. Some say his tactics imply that the best defense is a good offense. They may be correct, and Rohan has followed this logic for land and naval warfare. While on land the days of the horse are ending, they still are a heavy and quick offensive tool that reminds our potential enemies that we can strike them back fast and hard should they attempt to take our lands or those of our allies. On the sea, this has brought about the practice of arming our ships heavily. They have to come to us, unless they wish to wait for us to come to them, but we will make them pay dearly should they try either option.

Today the King went to the mound of his fathers, his great-grand mothers, and uncles that were King of Rohan. Vistiting the 274 graves of the kings and queens of old, Theocro is reminded that one day he will be grave number 275. The Simbelmyne (Evermind) still bloom on every grave. The traditional reading of the names was done as is done when a new King is put on the throne, but the line breaks at Theoden to drink then continues until Theocro King is named, then the second drink is had. Rememberance of Theoden still takes centerstage on this day

Starkhorn, Belted Cruiser of the Mark, and distant cousin of the Oyama designed Orodruin, was launched today with much cerimony in Mithlond. Lady Shizuku Oyama, the vessel's designer personally christened the vessel and said that she felt that this time her ship would be put to good use.

A pair of Brandybuck Turbine sets were loaded on a freighter for San Diego yesterday in payment for the eight cruisers purchased from the Confederate States of America last month. Some say that this transfer might be a mistake as it would give the Confederates equal speed to the Rohirrim. However the Marshals of the Mark suggest that Rohan currently has numarical superiority with both Arcadia and Shadowfax, and with the Freawine due to be launched in December and the Walda to be laid down around the same time, that superiority should hold for at least the next five years if not longer.

With the peace between the Eastern Kingdom and the United Kingdom of America relatively sealed, the Mark has put forth a request to the Eastern Kingdom to establish more frequent trade between the Mark and Nihon. Specifically the Mark has requested more commercial airship flights to the cities of Forlond (Vancouver) and Bree (Spokane) to adjust the citizens to the concept of flight. The Mark has granted limited fly over rights to the Eastern Kingdom for military vessels only if the Confederate States of America also is willing to allow such flights in the growing crisis in the the Island Commonwealth.

Gandalf and Gamgee Rockets has announced that they have attempted to increase the range on the New Swiss Dynamite Gun contraption's shells by attaching a version of their rockets. The test have not very conclusive, but the test vessel, Radburg, Torpedo Boat of the Mark, has launched a few sample units out in the Sound. However in using the Dynamite Gun's shells, they have reversed the technology of the fins and made their companies rockets far more accurate than they use to be. They've not tested the range of such a rocket yet, but they imagine it would be decent now that they can aim it more effectively than the stick rockets of the last century.

The King's Birthday

The King slipped out on his escort yet again this year. No one has seen Theocro since this morning when the party in Edoras began.

September 23, 1904

The King appeared in what most people believe was the Shire of legend. Some distance west of Bree he and his Grey Company were spotted by local authorities leaving a recreation (scaled up) of what people believe a hobbit hole would look like according to the Red Book of Westmarch. Theocro King stated that he wanted to visit the sight and slipped out in on his birthday (again). He inspected the hobbit hole on the 22nd, and reportedly paid his respects to the memory of the two Baggins and one Gamgee that wrote the majority of the Red Book.

September 30, 1904

Theocro King traveled to Mundburg and entered the House of Kings in the Old Section. There he is said to have paid respects to the Master of Brandybuck and the Thain of the Shire in the early days of the Fourth Age. Also there he paid respects to the kings of Gondor, and the King Elessar, the King who returned glory, hope, and peace to the Lands of the West.
