 January 5, 1904

With the new year, the Kingdom of Rohan has laid down the destroyer First Dawn in Pelargir. The destroyer will join the new batch of destroyers under construction to replace the aging torpedo boats of the Mark and provide escort for the Mark's larger warships.

January 7, 1904

Thorin and Durin, Dwarven Battleships of the Mark along with Elendur, Combat Cruiser of the Mark, have left New Beleriand for the last time yesterday. They sail for California...their new home.

January 8, 1904

To honor an agreement with the Kaiser of Brandenburg, the Kingdom of Rohan laid down a replacement cruiser for the Furst Bismarck which will be scrapped in the coming months. The new vessel has been engineered to Brandenburg specifications at Oyama Works in South Mithlond.

January 15, 1904

The Norton and Vallejo, Battleships of the Californians have arrived in Dol Amroth. They have been unofficially renamed Deor and Frea, their original Rohirrim names as they entered the scrapyards.

January 18, 1904

The Furst Bismarck, pride cruiser of the Brandenburg Fleet has been officially decommissioned and scrapping has begun. The remaining functional turret of the vessel, Bruno turret, will be removed in the next few days and transported on the vessel Queen Emeraldas to the Brandenburg for care, along with the remaining members of the Bismarck's crew that remain in New Beleriand.

February 2, 1904

Arcadia, Battleship of the Mark escorted the Queen Emeraldas out of Eglarest on Sunday. Captain Harlock of the Arcadia suggested that the Arcadia might escort the trader all the way to Neue Königsburg as part of her trials. What route the vessels take is unknown. It is not known if Shadowfax, Battleship of the Mark, will accompany the Arcadia on her trails or stay locally for the remainer of her own trails.

February 6, 1904

Eorl, Battleship of the Mark, has been decommissioned after a long periord of service and serious wear from the war with the Anahuac. She will begin scrapping in Forlond on Friday.

February 15, 1904

Goldwine and Theoden, Battleships of the Mark have been sent to patrol the area where the "Profitable" was sunk. They are expected to maintain this patrol for several weeks. The two battleships will keep an eye out for similar vessels in these waters and for other suspicious vessels in the area.

February 23, 1904

Brytta, Battleship of the Mark, has been sent to Brazil to make a port of call at most of the country's ports. Calmacil, Combat Cruiser of the Mark, has been sent with the Battleship to give the Brazilians and French a looks at the modern Rohirrim Navy and give business to the locals.

March 1, 1904

Brytta makes her first port of call at Cayenne, French Guiana on Monday the 29th of February. She is expected to make port at: Belem, Sao Luis, Fortaleza, Natal, Recife, Maceio, Salvador, Vitoria, Rio del Janeiro, Santos, and Porto Alegre, with one to three days between stops.
(Order of stops: New Beleriand, Cayenne, Belem, Fortaleza, Recife, Salvador, Vitoria, Santos, Porto Alegre, Rio del Janeiro, Maceico, Natal, Sao Luis, New Beleriand.)

March 6, 1904

Construction remains steady on the Freawine, Battleship of the Mark, which is expected to be completed only a few months later than scheduled. Her completion has been pushed back until October at the earliest, December at the latest. Her sister ship, Walda, will be laid down probably in August or Septmeber of this year after the Belted Cruiser Starkhorn is completed.

The Kingdom of Rohan was shocked by a very large donations in francs to the Mark this last Wednesday. With a worth in gold of 193,500 troy ounces sent to the Bank of Elrond in Eglarest, the Mark could expects to be able to pay for the equivalent of a Combat Cruiser with the funds. The donor was thanked politely in the name of the King. The processed funds for the coffers of the Mark will be reflected in April.

The Red Day

After minor delays due to weather, the Brytta and Calmacil have reportedly left the port of Salvador on Monday. They are expected in Vitoria before the 18th. According to the ship's reports, they have not found any Anahuac presence in Brazil. However the locals seemed relieved when the ships of the Mark were in port, and sorry when they left. More will be reported when more informtion becomes clear.

March 19, 1904

An incident has been reported concerning Goldwine and Theoden, Battleships of the Mark. Reports are limited, though some word about a sinking French vessel has been reported along with a mention of an armed merchant cruiser.

March 21, 1904

Arcadia, Battlship of the Mark has reportedly reached Neue Königsburg on Saturday. The Queen Emeraldas is reportedly returning her cargo and passangers to the Brandenburgians before the pair head back to Eglarest.

March 22, 1904

Goldwine, Battleship of the Mark returned to Eglarest early this morning towing a badly damaged sloop of war. Heorl Lithol, Captain of Goldwine, reports that the vessel attacked and sank a French merchantman several dozen miles off the New Rhun coast. Theoden and Goldwine moved to assist the freighter but all the crew has been killed and the vessel was in an advanced state of sinking when Theoden's crew tried to save her. Nothing off the ship's manifest was taken by the pirates. Goldwine intercepted the pirate vessel, this sloop they towed it. The sloop's documents indicate that the vessel was operated by the orginization of the Buag Argival Mars. It's crew was to be compensated for each French vessel sunk. No plundering, strictly a mercinary job. Rewards for each vessel were a large amount of rum, opium, and brothel rights for each French vessel sunk. Who the job was to be done for is not clear in the documentation. Two large positions for very small, but fast, torpedo boats were located on the sloop. The Sloop's crew fought to the last man, but also appear to have slaughtered there press gang crews, all of which seem to have been natives of the Amazon region. The ship's main crew seem to have been caniman (ACM people), and the flag of the Buag Mars was found on the ship. Goldwine will remain in port for the remainder of the week while her crew is questioned more. Shadowfax has been called from her trials to keep the patrol with Theoden, Battleship of the Mark.

Wireless reports from the Brytta's stop in Vitoria suggest that the local population seemed "almost relieved" with the two Rohirrim warship's in port. The same report has been seen in nearly all the ports of call the Brytta has made since she left Guiana. The ship's captain has also made a note that the civilians seemed "distressed when our ships wer about to leave". No Anahuac activity has been witnessed by the crews of the two ships, and while the civilians seemed to enjoy the presence of the Rohirrim in their cities, they always seemed nervious and generally would not answer questions if asked about that matter, or where the local French forces were. No a soldier or police man anywhere to be seen. Even naval units seem to be away when our vessels arrived, or left shortly afterwards. According to the report the ports were "unnaturally quiet, and the population nervous."

March 23, 1904

The Kingdom of Rohan requests official acknowledgement or confirmation from the Republic of France on the seeming lack of French forces in Brazil. Especially the port cities. Official reports from Brytta, Battleship of the Mark, have not seen many, if any, French forces in any port they've visited in Brazil, including naval units and police forces. While not needing troops to protect a colony such as Brazil would indicate a great amount of trust and prosperity between the colony and the home country and with a country's enemies, the Kingdom of Rohan finds the lack of police and even customs forces unusual since such forces were in place the last time a large Vessel of the Riddermark traveled to Brazil. While the Rohirrim have not found any direct evidence of an Anahuac presence on Brazil's coastal ports, it does find the conditions of the local population to be tense, nervous, and oddly happy to see the Rohirrim. The Kingdom of Rohan would think something is wrong locally that has not been acknowledged by France, and the Kingdom of Rohan would like to know what is happening before the situation that seems to be developing spirals out of anyone's control. For be the problem the Anahuac, Agrival, or even the Swiss, chaos only helps the one the Follower of the Eye worship.

With the situation now present in Brazil the collier Tol Morwen, escorted by Minas Harthad, Belted Cruiser of the Mark, has been sent out from Eglarest to resupply the cruiser Calmacil in Brazil.

March 29, 1904

Brytta, Battleship of the Mark arrived in Rio de Janeiro around noon on Sunday after having left Pôrto Alegre on the morning of the 25th. She is scheduled to leave Rio later today for her next port of call.

We of Glorious France are sorry to be pressurised in answering in possible harsh language. But with the latest incidents a full explanation needs to be given.
We of Glorious France tried to keep the sensitivities of the honorable Rohirrim safe by keeping the presence of Anuhuac refugees hidden from the visiting Rohirrim officials.

Unfortunatly, the situation forces us to hurt the sensitivities of the Rohirrim.

During the Rohhirim/Anuhuac genocide we of Glorious France set up a refugee transport route, and a lot of Anuhuac people got transported to the deep inlands of Brazil. Where they, together with French engineers are building up a new life.

In exchange for this they offered, after the conclusion of the Rohirrim victory, to become not refugees, but a part of the great French empire.

Unfortunatly, forces outside the French people, a rebellion centering around a core of disgrunteled deported Portugese is ravaging Brazil.
When this rebelion started to treathen the Anuhuac enclave, the Anuhuac offered to take on a part of the French burden to administrate, organize and police Brazil.
As a token of our trust and goodwill, we allowed this offer to integrate with our forces.

But alas, forces outside Glorious France are greedy, and want more power and lands to drain. The Portugese rebellion seemingly with socialist roots is getting financed from other states who are already waiting to dine on the carcass of a dead land. We are not going to point fingers yet. But when the truth comes in sight, Hell will be a gentle place for those who treathen the Peace France delivered to Europe and the French Colonies for decades.

We hope this explains the situation. As France is build up by its many people, so did the Refugees from the Rohirrim/Anuhuac war become part of those peoples..

To the Republic of France

The Kingdom of Rohan accept the French explaination of its affairs with the Anahuac. Rohan would warn the French Republic about trusting the Anahuac, especially those that Follow the Eye. After centuries of contact, the Rohirrim know not to trust them for they will cross the Republic of France, just as they have crossed the Kingdom of Rohan and many others, to achieve their own goals. Several kings have tried to be at peace or even allied to the Anahuac over the years. All have ended in betrayal and death.

That being the case, the Calmacil will remain on station in Pôrto Alegre until the local crisis is overted and French forces can resume control of the situation to the satifaction of all involved. Brytta, Battleship of the Mark, will continue her tour of Brazilian cities until late next month when she will return to New Beleriand.

(One assumes now that there is no knowledge of the Austrian forces in Brazil that has reached France and Rohan by the 31st of March.
