Can we make ocean liner auxillary cruisers and transport ships like those used in World War I? Most industrialized nations of the era used cruise liners in both World Wars for such purposes.

SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES

Mercantile Standards/Auxiliaries

A ship in government service may be built to mercantile standards if armament and armor take up no more than 2% of the ship's weight at normal displacement.  Such ships could include colliers, transports, survey ships, and others.

Tenders, as described below, can not be built to mercantile standards

In this case, the cash and BP cost of construction is quartered.  This also pertains to upkeep, future repair, refit, and scrapping of the vessel.  The time required to build, refit, repair, or scrap the ship remains unchanged, however.

Moderators have may require a ship to be built to normal military standards if they believe that the intent of a design is to produce a cheap warship.

France has 1 build to milspec.  Le Magnificent, build in 1904.  But that one was rebuild from luxury liner to pure troop tansport after the second torpedo'ing during the Kolkottan unpleasantness.

On the other hand, her enormous pricetag has her still in use. A normal liner wouldn't  have survived 1 torpedo... She survided 2...

Her sistership, the UNK Mercury is still in original version. And still the biggest commercial liner in use.

No the Gran Columbians think they are related to the Romanians and there perpensity to explode without warning.   However the Gran Columbians can just keep there Icebergs in the South Atlantic where they belong and away from the 2 new luxury linners I am building.   Since the UNK Ownes the Azores they will likely be on the Route so Southern Routings will be more common then Northerly ones.  So no need for my Titanic and Britania to risk there hides in Ice infested waters.
