1 October

The Foriegn Minister has announced today that the Nicobar Islands just north of Sumartra NEI have been turned over to the Dutch government by the New Swiss. The islands have been claimed by both parties and have been the subject of numerous talks. As a result of restrictions imposed by the Dutch government to shipping during the war between the Middle Kingdom and the New Swiss that made suppling the islands more difficult the Swiss have retracted their claim to the islands.


10 October;Singapore

The Sloop HMS Flevoland has been returned to service following repairs from a pirate attack in July. The only change made was replacing the 3.5" guns with new pattern 3" guns. She will be attached to the Selat Sunda patrol.


19 October;Singapore

The Lord Viceroy of the Netherland East Indies was found dead this morning. It is believed that he died in his sleep. He aides stated that he was complaining of slite pain in his chest and a numbness in his left arm.
He had served as the Viceroy since 1897, before that he served in various post with the Foriegn Office, coming to the NEI in 1890 as the 2nd assistant to the Viceroy. He is survived by his wife and 1 son (An Army officer in the Congo) 1 daughter and 4 grandchildren. He will be buried in the cemetary on his estate in Zeeland.
His replacement has not been named yet but is believed that it will be Johan Verpronck formerly the Governor of the aborted Australian Colony.

1 November,1901

The AF Count der Assen, the SoWs Timor and Java with 6 TBs,2 GBs and 2 coastal transports arrived at Great Nicobar Island. They landed 500 troops of the 2nd Regiment(The Viceroy Guard) before moving north to the other islands in the Netherlands newest possecion, leaving 1 GB(GB-10) for support. The task group then landed troops at Nancowy and Katchall Islands with 1 TB and 1 GB(GB-7).
Arriving at Malacca on Car Nicobar they were fired upon by a small artillery piece which fired 3 rounds before falling silent. A TB approached the shore under a white flag and made contact with the officer in charge of the battery. NSA Lt. Simon Ambrose appolgized for the mistake explaining he was expecting the Spanish to returnat anytime. He was surprised when he learned of the transfer of the islands and his orders to Australia.
He reported that the Spanish arrived at night flying a New Swiss flag, by the time his Capt. realized they were Spanish it was to late to put up a fight. Lt Ambrose said he was ordered to hide his guns breech blocks and to hide the best he could and when the Spanish left 3 days later he found his Capt. had been hung for spitting in a Spanish officers face. He also reported that several of the isalnd women are missing, presumed taken by the Dons. Other than planting a few crude mines they did nothing during their short stay.
The New Swiss soldiers and their equipment were transported to Great Nicobar to await transport to Australia.

4 November,1901
Brussels

Her Majesty today condems the actions of the Austrian Forces in Asia and calls for the Austrians to withdraw from the area.
"The Haspburgs Empire's actions in Asia have while seeking peace have only resulted in more death and destruction.We do not recognize the Haspsburg's right to freely sail into New Swiss waters 'to inspect' cvilian transfers, They were warned to stay away.
We have ordered my NEI Fleet to close ALL ports to all belligerents, except in an emergency and then for only 24 hours. Any ship not able to return to sea at the end of that time will be interned and the crews removed. Any merchant ship will be stopped, inspected and escorted to a NEI port, any warship will be escorted to a NEI port. Any ship not stopping maybe fired upon."

The Queen also ordered the open sea lane through the Timor and Banda Seas closed to all shipping of the warring nations.

30 November,1901

The American World Squadron's stay in Jakarta has been enjoyable by all concerned. The new American game developed, by a Count Doubleday, called Baseball was especially enjoyed by the Officers and Enlisted men of the Fleet. The Duch sailors didn't do to well at first but caught on quick. They made up for it in games of Ruby and Soccer. The police had been watching him for several weeks, then nothing. The last report was on the 19th, of him at a water front bar talking to an old Frenchman. The report stated they left together the body of the officer following him was found in the river with a knife wound in the kidney The trail stopped there until a report from the Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky.
The report stated that one of the guests in the Duke's Suite received a package on the 23rd that had not been picked and that began to smell. When opened a pair of hands were inside with a note.

'Master, this woman sought to betray us. She was writing a note to the Dutch police. She won't be writing any more notes.
P.S. the men still enjoyed her.'

When the police opened the door to suite the notice sickly sweet odor, the source of which was the severed genitals of a man. The were identified by tattoos the the waterfront working girls reported he had. Found in the room was pale lavender dress with what appeared to be blood on it laying on the master bed. The bath was a mess, blood was on the walls and in the tub. The staff reported the couple paid well to ensure their privacy, only being visited by one or two men, one of which delivered a large oblong package a few days ago.

The man was identified as Mr. & Mrs. Jean Pierre Foch of France, when asked the French embassy could not, or would give any details about the man or his wife. A search of train and shipping offices found that both train tickets to Paris and passage on the liner Princess Maria to the CSA were booked. The Princess Maria sailed on the 21st and the train is already in France. The authories in both countries were alerted.

A search of the Duke's Suite turned up very little a few scraps of burnt paper in the fireplace, one with he words operat(burnt)hant(burnt) gun. The officer finding it thought it said elephant and begun but that part was destoyed when being handed to his superior. Also found was a bloody rusted knife and a blood stained beer bottle. Even the mans clothes were gone and his body has yet to be found

Speaking in the curt style parroted from the Kaiser, Linienschiff Kapitan von Kogelmogel replied:
- "Ships. Austria wishes to charter any passanger liners that are free in the 1st half of 1905."
