 October 7, 1902

With tentions high on the Missouri River border, the Army of the Great Plains remains on alert. Checkpoints along traditional river crossings have been set to inform those that remain on the wondering path of the need to trade their firearms for the equally lethal though not as often used elven longbow. What few have been informed already have spoken of this being in a bad way. Officers of the Mark have suggested that they find a good way out of this to avoid more conflict with the United Kingdom. The Peace as it is has lasted for many years, thought the tension has not. Rohan would like to keep it that way. A few elders agree that their should not be a fight, but the round eyes need to understand that a man that needs to feed his people will not want to give up his tools just to satify someone who does not understand the path they walk or covents the land which the people walk for greed. A reckoning may come if the understanding does not happen, the elders say. When asked if that meant some groups would defy Rohan, he said that "the Earth will make her own reckoning, be it from the peoples are not".

October 9, 1902

The Kingdom of the Rohan sends forth a notice to the former Kingdom of Spain and the Baltic League: "The madness which has begun to spread within your realms has no place in our part of the world. Our people have their own ways and their own happiness, they do not require the writings of a madman to know good from evil, nor that the idea that the workers can run the world alone with work. Simply put the people of Rohan do what the people of Rohan do. Royality may be a privilage, but it is tempered by those with knowledge, by the peoples. But it is not cast to the wind to leave an emptiness of insanity, choas, and war. Rohan has already fought the forces of choas and war for far too long, and will not stand for it to come yet again so soon after removing insanity of the Anahuac Empire's cult of the Eye from Central America. Your ways are not our ways, and while Cuba is not part of Rohan, Cuba should go its own way, not they way of madmen."

October 11, 1902

Some mishandling of materials between Rohan and New Beleriand have resulted in delays in the completion of both Shadowfax and Arcadia, Battleships of the Mark.

October 13, 1902

The Fleet of the Eastern Seas has been set out to patrol approaches around Cuba and into the Caribbean Sea.

October 18, 1902

With word that representatives from Rohan might return to Vienna, the embassy their has been reopened.

October 19, 1902

Mithril Child, S.W. arrived from Brazil after several months in the Pacific Ocean. It's commanding officer has reported to the Intellegence Advisors in New Beleriand about something of importance give the jump in local security.

October 22, 1902

The Kingdom of Rohan has dispatched Denethor, Armored Cruiser of the Mark, to Rio de Janeiro on a good will visit to the large South American French colony. She will not arrive until November 16th.

October 27, 1902

The protected cruiser Minrimmon and the export torpedo boat Muzgash were laid down today in Harlond.

October 30, 1902

Construction begins on another factory in New Beleriand as digging increases in the Beleriand Canal. The hope is that with the increased factory output the canal might finish ahead of schedule. At present they is no way to beat either the French nor Columbians in finishing a canal, but Rohan has expressed that the desire for a canal has more to due with national security than with pride or commerce.

October 31, 1902

New Swiss and Rohirrim Engineers have not yet solved the problems of designing a 23,000 shp turbine engine that will push a battlehship up to 20 knots. However work contines even after generous offers by the United Kingdom to supply one of their units to Arcadia and Shadowfax. Rohan has invested a lot of time and effort into its project and would like to complete it either on its own or with the New Swiss whom they originally contracted the engines. With delays in construction already, it is expected that the manufacturers have at least 6 months before they need to have an engines to deliver. Rumors that the Kingdom of Rohan will take the New Swiss Battleship Hawaii over if an engine design is not finalized have been said to be only rumors.

Lord Harlock has said that repairs to the crippled Star of Elendi, S.W. are going smoothly and she should be ready to return to service within the next 9 months.

November 3, 1902

Work on additional rail service from the United Kingdom to Mithlond is proceeding at a relatively nice pace. Some elders of the United Tribes of Turtle Island have protested cutting the herds off from their traditional grounds since the larger herd animals will probably block trains from time to time and possibly destroy the rails. At least one elder suggested elevated rails for the main line. The idea has some merit, but elevating the entire line where herds move regularly and yet make the lines stable enough might prove to be a challenge.

November 8, 1902

New Rhun seems to have settled a bit since the end of the war. Most member of the Followers of the Eye and other Anahuac supporters have either been rounded up or killed. What few are left seem to have either left the area in an attempt to link up with others in New Hondoras or the Mesoamerican Republic. Due to their poor relationship with Christians, it is highly unlikely any heading south would have gotten far into Gran Columbia without being captured or killed.

November 10, 1902

The Army of Rohan has been slated to return to Rohan proper within the next year after new micelhusl are trained locally. The Army has done a lot on Hondoras and operating with Mesoamerican Forces against the Followers of the Eye.

November 19, 1902

An incident in Rio de Janeiro has resulted in the deaths of three sailors from Denethor, Armored Cruiser of the Mark. Reports indicate that the three sailors were murdered and carved with symbols lated reported seen by Rohirrim soldiers during the Anauac War on temples to the Eye. The Captain of the Denethor has wired the Marshal of the Eastern Seas to ask if he could investigate farther as if the Eye is active in Brazil, the Republic of France will have a serious internal problem they may need help erasing. No word from France on the matter as of yet.

November 23, 1902

A brief suffle in Rio de Janeiro has ended with two more sailors and what Rohan would describe as a Follower of the Eye cultist dead. Two other sailors are being held in local custody pending word from France as to what to do about the situation. Denethor, Armored Cruiser of the Mark, waits on alert for word from Rohan or France.

November 26, 1902

Testing of Eomer, Battleship of the Mark's new superimposed turret has proven satifactory to the Marshal of the Northern Sea and has put forth plans to have Fengel rebuilt in the next several years to match the Eomer's modifications. Brytta will be completed with a superimosed turret similar to Eomer's and should her design her satifactory, Elfwine will also get a rebuild for this modification. No word on if the Theoden-class will get this modification during their mid-life refits in a few years. Eomer will now operate normally with the rest of the fleet.

November 29, 1902

Hawaii, Battleship of the Swiss, sits quietly these days with a massive hole in her deck as shipbuilders wait for her engine to be delivered. The waiting will hopefully not be too much longer, as the Swiss would like their battleship back before the next war heats up. Other shipyards are looking for more projects to fill their time and keep their workers working. Mithlond Yards seem to be the most busy of late, but part of that is the civilian repairs to the Star of Elendi, S.W.

November 30, 1902

Rumors from the Europe and the recent incident in Brazil suggest to the Marshals that the pirate Agrival might be partly responcible for the troubles on French Brazil. Investigators may be sent there if allowed by the French government to look into the matter of the pirate and the Followers of the Eye.

Kaiser Stefan was reading the morning paper, and a comunique from the reopened Rohirrim Embassy (what a difficult language, mused the monarch, forgetting Hungarian and the vowel-light Slavic languages spoken in his realm) caught his eye.

Somewhere in Texas, early December 1902

Mikolaj Przewalski was happy. He on a horse on the steppe, and there were mountains he had not yet visited in the distance. What more could a man hope
for? It was so easy to imagine that he was on an expedition into the uncharted unknown again, like over 20 years before in Asia. It was nice for that new Kaiser to send him to a country called Land of the Horse Lords. A good thing that after his 6th expedition he took up the invitation to move to his estates in Galicia, thus gaining the status of a Habsburg subject. Just exactly WHAT he was to do as the ambassader he did not know. A military engineer and surveyor by education, an explorer and naturalist by vocation, he suspected that it should go beyond his brief of "uphold the honor of your sovereign, be friendly to the locals, report on anything of interest or danger to the Realm" - but keeping to that could be pleasant. He wondered if the Rohirrin liked to hunt, and would his duties at the local Court leave him with time to trekk the countryside. And those mearas he had read some unclear passages about - did they still have those horses, held to be equine perfection? Well, the guide said that if the snows in those mist shrouded mountains let them through, they should get to the capital in four weeks. Life was good - a whole month on horse back, game to be had, open sky above - aaaah ...

Edoras, Rohan 15th of January 1903

Ambassador Count Przewalski was admiring the gleaming roof of the what he presumed to be some sort of hall at the Royal Palace. He tried to remember the name which was in his notes - Medusageld? Medusafeld? he had it - Meduselde! Pretty sight.
He left the picking of the route to a hotel to the guide, and enjoyed the sights. He was glad to be back in a city. He was getting old, he thought to himself - barely 6 weeks in the wild - he had specificaly intructed the guide to keep to the less civilized places as long as possible - and he was happy to be in a city? Unthinkable twenty years - he chuckled to himself.

December 4, 1902

With a brief series of talks in Brazil, Denethor, Armored Cruiser of the Mark has retrieved its remaining crew members and is on it's way back to New Beleriand.

December 7, 1902

Ships of the Fleet of the Eastern Seas maintian a watchful eye on Baltic and Spanish forces in Cuba. The spread of Communism through forceful means and revolution speaks of failure, both on the part of the system, and on the part of the rulers of said nations who have let their countries fall to such chaos. The Fleet of the Mark maintians watch and reminds the Baltic Fleet that these waters are not to be taken lightly, and matters of state should be resolved by their own people.

December 18, 1902

Work on an improved VTE engine for the quiet NSS Hawaii has been approved by the Marshals of the Mark as a test for such engine should they be needed for the Arcadia-class Battleships. Due to the seeming failure of the New Swiss to provide and engine, minor legal action may be taken to fill lost funds and time lost on the various naval construction products. The cost of the new VTE engine for Hawaii will be factored into the legal settlement should it come to pass. Work on the engine, already tested, will begin in February with finished installation by July of next year.

December 25, 1902
Fellowship Day

Word that relations with the Austrian Nation have improved enough that an embassy will be fitted for them in Edoras by February. Hope for better relations and trade seem to be the primary push from both Rohan and the Hapsburg Empire.

December 29, 1902

The return of Denethor, Armored Cruiser of the Mark beings with it the suggestion that the pirate Agrival and perhaps even the Followers of the Eye have gone to Brazil. With that land in turmoil and the French government being rather silent on the matter, ambassidors from Rohan will be asking for information on this region and the matter of the pirate who attacked the "Peace Fleet".

December 31, 1902

A sportsman from Maoria has challenged the Cheyenne Nation to a game they play in their far off land. The game the Cheyenne call "Rough Ball Play" seems to have gained popularity in some of the Plains Nations this last decade and the challenge was welcomed and the match set for August 15 of the coming year. The Maori team, called the "Originals" is said to wear all black uniforms. The Cheyenne plan to perform a specially made dance for the match to counter the rumored haka of the Maori.

Does Rohan have a team that can play British, sorry Norman association football, who could challenge New York City football club, present 1st division champions. OOO, I've just thought of a new thing I can cover in the News

Just randomly I'd guess such a sport would be more popular with the Gondorians in New Beleriand and with the former Anahuac, ACM, and Spanish peoples in that general region of Rohan. So you might be able to find a few teams down their willing to play.
