 July 4, 1902

The torpedo boat Radburg was launched today in Harlond. The small vessel is a testbed for a Swiss weapon on a smaller platform. The boat itself will be tested for the next few months before her weapon is put to the test. A second of this class to be given to the Swiss with the Battleship Hawaii will be laid down in October. These boats with their dynamite gun and torpedo arrangement have been named after orcs of legend. (next vessel is said to be named Muzgash) Some Rohirrim feel uncomfortable about naming ships after the ancient enemies, but some of the Advisors this the manes fit the ships in this case.

July 14, 1902

Digging in the River Erkenbrand for the Beleriand Canal has begun. While the process is expected to take many years it is hoped that the widening and deepening of this river will allow ships to cross to the Pacific from the city of Erkenbrank by 1910.

July 15, 1902

The Northern Fleet has conducted a War Game in the last week. Eomer and Brego verse Fengel and Gram. Narmacil verses Ostoher. In the battle Eomer's new turret worked well and even gave its side an advantage on the approach over Fengel. Ostoher was able to best Narmacil due to her crew's greater and more recent experiance. All in all the two sides battered each other into a draw.

With most of the fleet's protected cruisers on anti-piracy duties, a mock torpedo run on the Fleets were made by all seven avalibe torpedo boats (including Radburg). Each captial ship and cruiser defended themselves alone against the seven torpedo boats.

Gram destroyed six before they were in torpedo range..the seventh's torpedoes missed and was destroyed as it turned to fire its rear torpedo.

Brego destroyed four before they were in torpedo range, the remianing three missed on their first run. Destroyed two more before getting their second run, last run also missed and was destroyed on her way out.

Fengel destroyed five boats before they come into range, both runs missed and easily destroyed the remaining two before they could get off another shot.

Eomer destroyed three before they could fire torpedoes. Their torpedo fire was horrid however. Eomer destroyed three more before the second run which also missed. The last boat was destroyed on her way out.

Ostoher, with the veteran crew, destroyed every last boat before they could come into range.

Narmacil destroyed five boats before they came into torpedo range...the torpedoes missed yet again. Narmacil only destroyed one more before the second attack, which almost hit the cruiser. The last boat was destroyed on its way out.

This was followed by a series of torpedo attacks on an old hulk. Radburg did not participate in this action as her tubes have not been tested yet. The remaining six boats took turns, mostly to improve torpedo lauching and timing ability. It seems that torpedoes are not at all what they are cracked up to be, as out of 18 runs, there were no hits on the towed hulk. Later in the day they tired again with an anchored hulk. That test was only slightly better. Out of 18 torpedoes fired, two hit the target.

August 3, 1902

With no delivery date set, the Swiss Battleship Hawaii's repairs have been put on hold. All the materials have been delivered save for the engine. While the Rohirrim are patient in this matter, they do stress to the New Swiss government that an idle ship is not wise in the face of war. The steam turbines the Swiss wish to place in the Hawaii are of the same model as those to be placed in the Arcadia and Shadowfax.

August 18, 1902

With the superimposed turret concept seemingly proven in wargames and testing on the Eomer, the Freawine, Battleship of the Mark, was laid down today. This new vessel will be armed with the new 14 inch rifles andis planned to have a steam turbine propulsion plant in side her when she is finished in the next few years.

August 23, 1902

Work has been completed on a new heavy factory for the Navy. It should be working at full capacity in October.

September 10, 1902

Delays in turret and engine delivery will delay the launching of Arcadia, battleship of the Mark for several months. Some have suggested that eitther Rohan invests in its own design of steam turbine, or install a new model of triple expansion engine in the Arcadia and Shadowfax. While the two vessels would not be as fast as originally planned, they would be in service and still faster than any current design battleship or combat cruiser of the Mark.

September 13, 1902

Rumors of a new project in one of the drydocks at North Mithlond's naval yard have begin to surface. No details have been released, just that there is more activity at the yard that in the past few months.

September 30, 1902

Horseman of the Army of Rohan have trampled a sect of the Followers of the Eye in nothern Hondoras. The sect was known to sacrafice young women and then attack border patrols and warehouses of goods to help rebuild that which was destroyed in the war. It is hoped the Army of Rohan can send a message to the other sects of the Eye that remain in the Mark...you are unwelcome, even by your own people. Leave this land so that they might find peace.

August 29, 1902

Early report of the lose and sinking of Star of Eledil S.W. have proven to be premature. The reportedly stricken vessel was spotted entering a private yard in North Mithlond three days ago. Lord Harlock's freight company says that the vessel was reported lost as it did seem to sink while rounding the Horn last June. However two days later the tugs found her adrift. They themselves has been heavily damaged in the weather so combined with returning the vessel to her status as a towed ship and the damage to the tugs meant the entire group could only make an average headway of 4 knots all the way to Rohan. The tugs and freighter will be repaired by Lord Harlock's shipyard in the months ahead.

Man I need to pay more attention.

Mr Parsons of the UKA will happily supply Rohan with the appropriate turbine sets, at the cost that was to be charged by the New Swiss if Rohan wishes to complete Arcadia and Shadowfax sooner.
