#1
Cuervo Class

Gran Colombian rivers such as the Orinoco allow access to large ships for quite some distance up-river from the coasts.  Gunboats such as the Cuervo class will police this inland waterways, and could provide fire support to Federal troops if this was required.

The shallow draft means that things like crew quarters have to be above-decks, as seen in the crewhouse aft.  This has been left unarmored, protection being limited to the bridge and a belt along the waterline.  These will only keep small-arms fire out, really, but it's something.

Miscellaneous weight is provided for limited carriage of cargo.

Pescador Class

A river monitor for service in the Amazon.  She's got one big gun for shore bombardment work, a bit of armor, and some light guns to deal with war canoes and gunboats.  With a March '05 lay-down, she'd be completed just as the sim starts.   She'll also fit in the Type 0 drydock at Manaus, which is helpful.

Condor Class

The War in the Jungle (1903-05) with the Anahuac taught Gran Colombia a few things, one of which was the need for operational flexibility along the vast Amazon watershed.  On more than one occasion, battles were decided by the ability (or lack of ability) to land troops as reinforcements or blocking force, or remove troops from their positions.  It also became evident that reliance on civilian vessels for a troop transport function was chancy, especially in the early stages of a crisis.  Project Gator was conceived to address these issues, and led to the Condor class.

The Condor class, of which four are envisaged initially, are intended to transport a reinforced company of "River Rats" - V Jungle Corps - along the rivershed of Amazonas del Sur.  With a shallow draft, they can closely approach the shore, let down two gangways in the bow, and sortie out the troops in quick order.  Operating together, the boats can put together a light battalion; operating separately, each can land sufficient troops to restore order or run patrols.

The boats are armored against small arms fire, including the area forward which is not a forecastle but rather an area of raised plating to protect troops gathered in front of the sally-ports.

The armament is clustered forwards to provide supporting/suppressing fire during the landing/retreival operations

This design has been licenced to the DKB.

#4
Gorrion Class

The river gunboat Gorrion is designed as a support vessel for troops fighting close ashore.  A squat, boxy vessel, she carries two 120 mm mortars amidships, the forward unit offset to port, the aft unit offset to starboard.  Both mortars are surrounded by a ring of armor plate.

The usual 47mm QF and machine guns round out the battery, and can either work over targets ashore or small craft on the river.  The boat is armored against typical light artillery fire.

Two units are planned for 1910, being built in sequence at Manaus.

The Rock Doctor

RG-04 Class

These units were built by the Dutch to serve on the Congo river, and were transferred along with the Congo territory to Gran Colombia.  Despite having no access to the ocean, the boats have been assigned to the Armada, rather than the Ejercito or civlian police.

Four units, marked with an asterisk, ship a 105mm howitzer in place of the aft 77mm gun.
