 April 7, 1902

Work on the Beleriand Canal continues at a reasonable pace given the economic hardships of the New Swiss and still recovering Kingdom ofRohan. Some steam shovels finally arrived from the Swiss and the labor forces of Rohan are surveying, blasting rock, and removing silt form the main waterway to be used for the eastern part of the canal. The Swiss are working on the engineering of openning the western part from the lake to the sea. A good part of the new labor force are immigrants from across the seas that are refugees and need work. So far there have been few incidents of heat stroke and influenza. Malaria is a worry but with experiance during the war and the improved living conditions in general in New Beleriand's cities to begin with, the number of cases of the dreaded malice have been few this last year.

April 9, 1902

Fengel, Battleship of the Mark, and her forces have been recalled to Rohan after their prolonged stay in Asian waters. With the reduction of hostilities between the Swiss and just about everyone else in the region, but clues to the whereabouts of the pirate Argival having long gone cold, the fleet will return home.

April 13, 1902

Eldacar, Combat Cruiser of the Mark, has been ordered to stay breifly in New Switzerland to pick up Brandybuck Engineering's team of engineers in hopes of bringing back some useful information of Swiss steam turbines, or at least a reason why the project has stalled so much this last year. The new steam turbine design is suppose to be for both Rohan's new battleship design and the Arcadia, as will as the Swiss's own rebuilt Hawaii, which should be nearing completion. Delays with the engine have had the Marshalls of the Mark looking into an improved Triple Expansion Engine from Minas Nin Engines instead of a contract for Swiss and Brandybuck turbines for the Freawines.

April 15, 1902

Elfwine, Battleship of the Mark, and several other warships have been sent out to protect the sealanes from Europe to New Beleriand from the chance of disruption by heavy combat near and around said sealanes in the Cuba area. Rohan's position on the potential invasion of Cuba by the Baltic League in conjuction with the Socialist-Anarchist government of Spain has not been fully stated, though Rohan had had issues with Spain in the distant past, and issues with invasion of the "New World" as the Europeans call it. It is imagined that should it come down to it, Rohan will defend what it feels it should defend, and ignore what it feels is not its business.

April 28, 1902

Theoden and Goldwine, Battleships of the Mark, have been send out to cover sealanes in the Caribbean Sea along with Elfwine, Battleship of the Mark, and several cruisers. Its hoped this show of naval power will remind the Europeans that the "New World" is not their plaything and leave will enough alone.

May 13, 1902

Isengard Arms announced today that they have solved the positioning and firing problem in the triple turret design for Arcadia, Battleship of the Mark. No more men lossing arms unto the breech. It is hoped to have a the pair on the battleship corrected no later than July.

May 16, 1902

Denethor, Armored Cruiser of the Mark, has reportedly found a wrecked, drifting ship out at sea and will bring it back to New Beleriand as salvage. The hull is reported to be huge, but not of a type the Denethor's commander is familiar with.

May 23, 1902

Reports of late night activity at the Eglarest Yard have been unconfirmed, but sounds from locals suggest a ship was let out to sea during the full moon.

May 25, 1902

Balan, Dwarven Battleship of the Mark, will continue to be rebuilt dispite rumors that her hull is not salvagable and her job title is obsolete.

May 26, 1902

Denethor, Armored Cruiser of the Mark, returned to Eglarest today with a massive vessel in tow. Early viewers claimed it was the Arcadia, but that couldn't be possibe since Arcadia was in Brithomber. The Marshalls of the Mark suggest that this is in fact the Arcadia's lost sister ship, the France. France was lost at sea late last year on the way to the breaker. The yardmaster says her hull is in fine shape for the ware is must have had the last six months at sea. Using salvage laws, the Kingdom of Rohan has claimed this hulk as its own, and will see what it can do with it.

June 7, 1902

It has been decided that the hull of the France is in good enough shape to warrent finishing the vessel like Arcadia. Work has been halted on the crippled freighter Star of Elendi, S.W., and a proposal to scrap the vessel for materials for the France is under consideration. The hull of the France has been unofficially reclassified as Shadowfax, Battleship of the Mark. Oddly it seems that turrets for this vessel where already under construction as a set arrived yesterday. Official sources say they were a test pair for Arcadia that can be modified with the currect corrections and that a new set will arrive or Arcadia within the next month from Rohan. Shadowfax is getting the royal treatment it seems.

June 8, 1902

After some delays, Fengel, Battleship of the Mark has rejoined her newly rebuilt sistership, Eomer in Mithlond. The two vessels will take part in the wargame next month.

Palpaté, What game are you playing? In 4 years we lose several battleships.

Hoche at Malta, Neptune somewere in the Med, Greater Napoleon beached in South Indochina with a broken keel. Devestation and Courbet rebuilded as workships for the Great Canal. Paris used as a cheap bargain for lands already in our possession. And now, inept seamen lost the hull of our only latest model, and probably best battleship we could have, recovered by the Rohirrim, just after we had to pay the insurance company in a lost fast trial.

Premier Jardan, I'm afraid I have to further disappoint you.
Neptune wasn't lost in the Med. But in the Pacific.
Minister DeCreme wanted to get New Swiss to declare war on France. But the desintegration of the ACM played havoc in his plans. The ghost ship stories and the Rohirrim are right on most accounts. Neptune did smash the New Swiss/ACM battleship and colliers. Her loss due torpedo's is the reason our new designs take more of these weapons in account.
Now we're talking about Minister DeCreme, New Swiss sources indicate that they know who killed DeCreme. But they tried to trade this knowledge to gain support for their Middle Kingdom adventure.

WHAT? YOU IDIOT. This means France is the biggest boogieman of the latest decenia, playing games in games in games.

It gets worse Premier Jardan. If you tought this was already bad, Imagine how the truth about Clipperton will sound?
I suggest you will not call me idiot again. Or it could be that I bring out several truths.
The Anuhuac pirates around Clipperton for example. Payed by Rimauld in a very convulted way, just to harras DeCreme.
Who do you think that dropped the mines around and on Clipperton? UKA ships got reported to do that, but these tramp freighters got their official letters and payment from our Anuhuac Embasy, the ambassador there a good friend of Rimauld. But payed with money from Defence, DeCremes department. Just to satisfy his thirst of vengenge against New Swiss. It was also DeCreme who ordered the shelling of Clipperton.
The Russian cruiser Diane... hired by DeCreme, not by France. So he could circumvent being blamed of incompetence.

How do you know this all Palpaté?

Premier Jardan, I'm head of the secret service for 12 years. It's my job to know things. Unfortunatly, i'm not politicaly correct, and I know when to shut up. But what I do not like is being called an idiot, not by a man who almost sacrificed his wife, who really loves him. Be glad the Philipian disaster forced Aggrivals hand. And that Philipe Dupont was willing to pay the ransom to Aggrival.

My brother in law payed for Louise? France negotiated with a criminal? This explains why he's so angry with me..... and why my Louise is still very hysterical when I mention my job. Luckely that the elections are not so far away. otherwise I would resign my job.

Premier, I suggest that you take a leave for this periode. Get your life back on track. Explain it to the population as a cool down periode before the elections so that every voter can decide in all serenity what party gets his vote. So you can retire in peace. You did enough for France. Your actions avoided at least 3 open wars.
Also, rest assured we will capture Aggrival. He wasn't payed in money, but in technology, chemical technology.....

The Freighter Star of Elendi, S.W., will be turned over to a civilian shipyard to complete her repairs. Due to the nature of the damage, the navy repaired her hull enough to sail for her home in Mithlond for a refit.

June 12, 1902

Eldacar, Combat Cruiser of the Mark, has returned to Mithlond after a lengthy tour of duty in the Pacific Ocean. While the hunt for the pirate Agrival was unsuccessful, the Rohirrim would like to think that their presence in the area was a factor is calming some of the tensions between the Swiss and the Hapsburgs. Eldacar will be in port for many days while she takes on supplies and her crew receive an well earned shore leave.

June 18, 1902

Fitting of turrets have begun on the Shadowfax using the test models build for Arcadia. It is suspected that production model turrets will arrive from Rohan within the next six months.

June 21, 1902

The Marshals of the Mark have announced today that the Dwarven Battleship Balen will be scuttled at sea. The reconstruction proved to be too costly to bring the ship back into fighting trim in an age where battleship are getting more and more powerful.

June 23, 1902

Rohirrim battleships and cruisers maintain patrols in the Caribbean Sea and near the sea lanes around the island of Cuba. While Rohan does not want to get involved in yet another war, it would like to prevent one from spreading to Cuba by reminding the Spaniard and now the Baltic League that while their internal affairs are their own, they should not let their affairs bring discomfort to the people they claim to be their own, especially in their neighbor's yard. Once your revolution, or state sponsored anarchy if you wish, ends, then let the people of Cuba decide what is in their interest. But do not involve them in your little war if they do not wish to be involved. For doing so would speak volumes as to what the "people' want versed what the "red crown" or the "wealthy elites" wish.

June 30, 1902

Tragedy! Freighter Star of Elendi, S.W., floundered while rounding the Horn! fortunately no one was aboard the vessel when a winter wave took the vessel and her tug by surprise. The vessel's repairs gave under the stress of the waves and she began listing to port. Unable to get people over to the freighter to correct the list, the freighter scummed to her list and sank in two hours. Reportedly the King will sign a deed of reimbursement to the owner of the stricken vessel....Lord Franklin W. Harlock.
