January 4, 1902

Elfwine escorted the Star of Elendi, S.W. into the naval yard at Eglarest yesturday morning. The vessel doesn't look to be in that bad of shape, but then most of the damage was below the waterline. The ship will reportedly need a lot of attention to get her engines working, perhaps even a new engine entirely. Work will be done away from the public eye, as the military yards are set away from the civilan port.

January 6, 1902

Arcadia returned from her extended sea trials. Reports say that she suffered some storm damage while out and it may take some time to get her repaired. However the experiance did give the yardmaster some idea of what the French are going through with the Greater Napoleon. Once the damage is repaired Arcadia's engines and turrets should be ready for delivery and installation.

January 12, 1902

News has reached Rohan about an immense volcanic blast in the Philippines, and that a Ship of the Westron was present for the disaster. On December 24th the Mithril Child, S.W. was steaming from Manila to Brandenburg when the Volcano Taal exploded some 20 miles away. The wave nearlt destroyed the freighter, but the actions of her brave crew saved the vessel. The freighter is reportedly in the Port of Brandenburg, DKB.

Fengel, Battleship of the Mark and her squadron of Combat Cruisers have been ordered to resume their active search for the Pirate Agrival as soon as the situation between the Swiss and Hapsburgs is resolved.

Other cruisers have been dispatched into the Pacific, Atlantic and Caribbean to hunt for the pirate as well.

February 3, 1902

Isengard Arms announced today that they have prefected an improved method of gun production to make the barrels last longer and allow for increased ranges. Their first production models of these guns will be for the new Freawine-class battleship's 14 inch guns and a second production will start for the 12 inch guns to be delivered to Arcadia if they can product the weapons in time. If not they will go to Brytta and any maybe be used when the Theodens come in for their major refits in the next two years.

February 21. 1902

Brandybuck Engineering has sent a team to New Switzerland to deturmine the possibility of getting the Swiss designed steam turbines completed and install in both the Arcadia and the Hawaii by the end of the year. Delays with the Swiss engine have made completion of these two battleships difficult this last year as the yardmasters and engineers were expecting the engines last year. While Rohan will not finish the Hawaii without the engine as stated in contract, the Arcadia might need to be fitted with a triple expansion engine similar to the one the French were going to install in her as the Paris. The Marshalls of the Mark would much rather have the superior engine so that this new battleship could keep up with the new ships of other powers.

February 23, 1902

A local uprising in Hondoras has lead elements of the Army of Rohan to suppress the Followers of the Eye. 38 people were killed in the fighting and three soldiers of the Mark were killed. There families will be compensated as there bodies are taken home for services and honoring. All have earned an eagle feather for their service to their nations.

March 1, 1902

Fengel, Battleship of the Mark and her forces continue to keep Hapsburg and Swiss forces apart at sea near Taiwan. Other ships of the Westron has come to the Philappines to provide aid and in some cases take on refugees to be taken to New Beleriand for resettlement under Rohan's banner rather than the now chaotic Spanish banners. It is fortumate that the Caniman and the Spaniards speak and worship in simmilar manners, as they will probably form communities together in New Rhun and Hondoras.

March 18, 1902

Eomer, Battleship of the Mark will put to sea early next month as the local yardmaster says they figured out the problem with the new B turret. "Not enough support on the sides for when she turned and fired. The blast could have knocked the turret off its turntable and made her effectively useless in combat". With this problem solved, Eomer will be able to run trails and praticipate in the Pacific Wargames in July. Also this new method of superimposing turrets will be used on the new Freawine-class battleship. Rumors say that Brytta will also get this type of turret installed before she is finished.

March 27, 1902

Firing tests of the new triple turret design being built for Arcadia, Battleship of the Mark, has resulted in another man without an arm. The center firing position is still too dangerous during continuous fire drills. It is hoped that the problem can be solved and the turrets bult and installed on Arcadia before the end of the year.

An investigation has been started on the need for reconstructing the wrecked Balan, Dwarven Battleship of the Mark. The vessel was scuttled during the Siege of Brithomber to prevent the Anahuac from using the vessel against the city. Since then the vessel's remains have been used by the Marshalls of the Seas to test the superimosed turret designs for future battleships. With the testing shifted to the Eomer, Battleship of the Mark, the Balan would likely be scrapped, but for some reason the Marshalls want to bring the vessel back from the dead to defend the coasts off Brithomber again. While that is a noble goal, the ship was last seen in a fairly sorry state with only the aft deck area where the turret testing was being gone resembling a warship at all. How they managed to float her off the beach tot he dockyard where they are rebuilding the vessel is unclear, but they managed somehow because the ship is no longer on the beach.

The dockyards of Brithomber have been closed to the public most of the last year, ever since that unfinished French ship arrived to be rebuilt into a fast Rohirrim battlship. Reportedly the Arcadia has had massive problems getting finished due to the technologies needed to complete her not being ready for installation yet. On top of this the little sea trails of the hull in December seems to have worsened her condition. She looked terrible when they brought her into the yard in January. It was almost like they hadn't done any work on her at all. Its hoped that once the ship is completed she will be as powerful as the Marshalls claim to justify the expense the nations have put into her.

March 31, 1902

Reports vary on if the Freawine will be laid down in the next month. The yaedmasters have been silent for most of the year, but with new 14 inch guns and superimosed turrets, the new battleship will be one of the most powerful ships in the world when she is finished. The only vessels that will be able to match or surpass her would be the newer French built ships, and perhaps the Arcadia (also a French design). However the Marshalls and the King know all to well that the Freawine will not be the endall of warships and her superiority will not last long, just as the superiority of the Gloire forty years ago only lasted for a few years.

Also reports have the dorkyards at Eglarest being closed to the public after the Star of Elendi, S.W. returned to port. It is considered unusual for a civilian vessel to be repaired in a military yard. The Marshalls have explained that they have purchased the vessel for use as an auxillery, but no specifications have been forth coming as to what kind of auxillery she will be, nor has anything been mentioned by her former owner, Lord Harlock of Mithlond.

There is also a strange report of a sighting of the Star of Elendi, S.W. in Moaria transporting the new rugby team to Rohan for an international game this spring. Harlock's shipping line says the reports to be wrong and that they vessel is in fact the Blade of Elendi, S.W.
