There are some interesting countries available. The Dutch or the Normans (UNK) spring to mind.
And if a tad smaller or "strange" is wished for, Firenj or Independent Indonesia.

Holland looks interesting. What happened to it? It looks like nobody has updated in a while since page 14 of the sim reports? Its encyclopedia is a bit out of date.

The Normans look in much better shape, but they too are in bookkeeping limbo. Being new here I might need some help to stand either one of them up.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I initially looked at Meso-America to get a feel for an entry nation, but if I were fortunate to be allowed join in with either the Dutch or Normans I would likely choose the Normans. I'd be happy with anything.

If you want to dive straight in to the Dutch or the Normans, this might be feasible, but there are also other options to get your feet wet first.
