In a move to improve the services provided to the citizens of the Reich, Kaiser Wilhelm II today affixed his signature to a decree altering the status of some of our nation's provinces and colonies.

The province of Deutsch Norman Afrika will revert to the name it was known as under Norman government, Kenya. This will simplify the tounge-twisting title of the territory and eliminate confusion with Deutsch Ost Afrika.

The internal part of that proivnce, west of a line connecting Lake Tanganyika with the northwestern tip of the Kingdom of Malawi, will be split off into a new colony, to be called Zambia.

And finally, our Australian colony of Königsland is granted full status as a Province of the Reich; Norfolk Island, formerly part of Königsland, will become distinct and retain colonial status...

It was announced today that due to the deterioriating world situation, the Brandenburgian Explorers' Guild has been forced to abandon their plans to establish a base on Macquarie Island later this year. The Guild hopes that by next year things will have settled enough to begin exploration of the Southern Oceans.

The Ost Afrika Line vessel König Wilhelm has been retained by the Admiralstab, and it expected that a Kreigsmarine scientific observation party will be transported to Macquarie as soon as the chaotic weather of the southern sea permits.

The Spanish Ambassador has been seen meeting with Count von Bülow in Brandenburg's cafes lately. Is our great nation pleading the cause of peace?

The Ost Afrika Line today announced that their founder and owner, Herr Karl von Ludwig is missing at sea after the dissipearance of his yacht in the western Indian Ocean...

There may be trouble in the newly established colony of Zambia. It is rumoured that the pioneering settlers in that land are requesting an increased army presence, to defend against "raiders who appear and dissipear like the southern wind".

The first craft produced by the Zeppelin-Brandenburg works was rolled out yesterday. The "Germania" is a small dirigible powered by a single petrol engine. The New Swiss-owned company hopes to begin work on a larger, more advanced vessel sometime next year...

I don't see a problem. The tripple alliance will be your help.
If Brandenburg breaks this in a negative way, nobody will trust them anymore.

The Admiralstab and Foreign Office would like to remind the merchant fleet of the Reich that any vessels carrying contraband to or from Middle Kingdom ports, including Hankow, should keep in mind that New Switzerland has declared a blockade of that country, and they run the risk of discovery by New Swiss patrol vessels.

In addition, the Middle Kingdom has declared a blockade of New Switzerland. Vessels with prohibited cargo trading with New Switzerland do so at their own risk...

The battleship Kaiser Karl der Grosse and panzerkreuzer Kaiserin Augusta arrived from Afrika at Brandenburg today. Kaiser Karl der Grosse will join her sister vessel Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse in First Battle Squadron at New Amsterdam, while former 1BS flagship Kaiser Freidrich III has been despatched to the Ost Afrika Station. It is believed that this series of moves is due to the desire to have a Marconi-equipped ship as flag of 1BS.

Kaiserin Augusta will spend three weeks in the shipyard having a Marconi set and the latest model of searchlights installed, prior to being despatched to act as "acting flagship" of the Australia Squadron, with its temporary HQ at the New Swiss port of Sydney.

The Sultan of Oman seems to have forgotten that the piratical actions of his predecessor lead to the conquest of his "nation" by the Caliphate of Cairo many years ago. Having fired upon and sunk one of our battleships, he now offers to ransom the crew for 1,000 gold Kaisermarks a head!

The world has no place for this sort of high-handed piracy. That this activity is taking place abroad our Kuwait trade routes makes it even worse. We should not yield...

Diplomatic note:

QUOTE

To the United States of New Switzerland and Australia

Our patrols in Königsland recently discovered a junk of the type known to be used by the Chinese beached on the Australian coast near Burkesburg. A trail was found leading from the vessel inland torwards the Republic of Central Australia.

If it is so desired, the DKB offers the services of its "Bushranger" units to assist in apprehending any saboterurs and maintaining security in Central Australia...

Yet another triumph for the Foreign Ministry as the Reich has acquired the island of Socotra, a key link in the Ost Afrika-Kuwait trade route, from the French for 8,000 gold Kaisermarks (ooc: 1 HBP in Q1/02).

A proviso of the agreement is that, should the unthinkable happen and war be declared between Brandenburg and the French, the island and its waters shall be neutral ground...

Why do I have a bad feeling about this? Maybe Im just paranoic.

Reply:

We thank the DKB for its offer of assistance but they will be unessesary. Plenty of NS and RoCA forces are available, they have already been alerted.

Leaked out Diplomatic dispatch to the Emirate of Oman

QUOTE
France strongly condemns the piratical actions and subsequent ransoming of the Deutsche Kaiserreigh Brandenburger sailors.
A strong suggestion is to return these men as soon as possible, without any payments of consessions asked.

A leaked dispatch to DKB.

QUOTE
"France, always on the forefront if it comes to fighting pirates offers the services of the  Magenta and escorts to return the DKB men being held in Oman."

From Oman: ommminous silence....

From DKB: The generous offer of the French is greatly appreciated, however it is believed that Brandenburgian assets will be succifient to deal with the issue.

Stay tuned for the next installment of "Arabian Nights", coming tomorrow...
