My legs are aching' thought Lukas ' I've been in this tree to long'
The camp was getting quiet, most of the pirates were starting to pass out from their celebration. They had taken another ship yesterday, 2 actually, small sampans loaded with beer, and opium. The party had been going on all day and Lukas had been in his hiding place for all that time.
Lukas slowly climbed down from the tree and took 1 last look around before heading away from the camp. The pirates had 2 torpodeo boats and a supply of 14" torpedos. He needed to take a closer look at them. They had a French look to them but something wasn't right, a suttle difference. He slipped quietly into the water and swam out to the nearest boat. He used a bambo straw to breath as he easily closed on the boat. There were no guards or atleast not very attentive ones, the one at the stern almost asleep standing up. He eased himself up and hit the guard with the hilt of his Kukri, slowly he move to the aft gun. In the limited light he could barely make out the stamp on the breech. The gun looked well maintained but the ready use ammo container was not locked. Lukas looked around and seeing no movement picked up a greasy rag and retuned to the unconscious guard and unloaded his pistol. Then he wrapped the bullets in the rag and stuffed it in the muzzle using his bambo straw to shove it in as far a possible. As Lukas slipped into the water he smiled and thought 'surprise, surprise'.

Lukas made his way south to a small cove about 12 kilometers from the pirate base. He cleared off his little sailboat, an old 12 meter lifeboat and mounted the oars, then sat back and waited. An hour later his companion arrived
"How did it go Slam?" Lukas asked
"Smoothly. They never even noticed me, but then they never do. i'll tell you later, after we get the boat
luanched."
They worked together to get the boat into deeper water after a few minutes they boarded and started to row out of the cove. When they had cleared the shore enough the raised the mounted the single mast and raise the sail and set course for the south.
Lukas would be glad to get home, he and Slam, short for Slamet, had been got 2 months locating and scouting the pirate bases around Songkhla. Although he looked like a local he really Dutch, his mother was from Kuala Lumpur a secertary for the local Army camp and his father was a Sgt.Major in the 1st Royal Gurka Regiment. When he reached his 16th birthday he was made a member of the regiment, the oldest and best Gurka regiment in the Royal Army, formed in 1795 as the Dutch East India Gurka regiment in Bangladesh before the Mugals drove out the Dutch. The Gurkas and the families left with the Dutch account the Mugals would kill anyone that had assisiated with the Europeans. Lukas was now a Sub Luitenant in the 1st company.
Slamet was also a Gurka and Lukas' platoon sgt. with a burning desire for kill pirates after they killed his mother and took his younger sisters captive 5 years ago.
They would report on the locations of the 5 pirate camps they found and then guide the attacking force to eliminate them. But first they had sail 200 miles to get home to Kota Baharu. Then give their report and get their plans made and men equipped.
