Ok,

In an attempt to collect and organize a list of Cardinals from around the world I am currently looking at the lists I utilized in the 1913/14 Papal Conclave.  Several People had Non Historical Cardinals in those Elections.

I need people to send me a list of those non historical Cardinals I remember several from GC and Iberia but I need a list of them and more importantly how old they are.

As an example one of the Cardinals from Italy most influential in the last election passed in 1916.

So if you have a non historical Cardinal from the last election or wish one let me know.

Japan now has 1, DKB needs to create 2 and I will have to look at the populations of the NUS and GC again to determine how many they need.

I'm guessing there probably aren't any Cardinals anywhere in the Ottoman, Mughal or Persian empires...

Although, I suppose there might be one representing the Syriac churches. Borys would certainly now how plausible that is.

The Syriac Churces are allied with Rome but I dont think they have Cardinals just Bishops and Arch Bishops.  Of Course the Patriach of Constantinople and the Greek, Eastern, and Russian Orthodox members simply have to agree to take their seats again  ;D

The Cardinals from North America and South America in this Time Period amounted to the Following.

Boston
Philadelphia
Quebec
Santiago De Cuba
Rio De Janeiro

I intend to add a few more possibly one in Atlanta, At least the two I have in Gran Columbia and a few more in the NUS.

Over all Populations and Econimc Strength in South America dictate a more significant Presence of high ranking Church members.   Of course I vaguely recall appointing a Cardinal to oversee the recomendation of the creation of more Diocese and Archdiocese in South America ?????

Over all I have to Delute the preceived dominance of the Roman Curia and its 21 now 22 Cardinals.  The Good news is one of the Italian Cardinals while in good health is significantly over 80 the cut off age for participation in addition deaths and replacements since the last conclave have changed the playing field a bunch.  Younger Cardinals or those in better health and able to travel are available in Both the Habsburg Empire and Poland....

Over all Im making lists and checking them twice but we still have some time *checks Popes Pulse*... were good....

HOW would a majority Catholic nation like the CSA NOT HAVE A CARDINAL?
Remember most of the cities along the Gulf Coast are 50% Catholic or MORE, and it's much higher in the former Mexican States. There is a Cardinal in the Galveston area in OTL, so I would say that there should be at least one in the CSA.

I revise my prior statement: the CSA has a single Cardinal, his name is Thomas Joseph Toolen and the seat of his arch-diocese is the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, on Dolphin Street, Mobile, Alabama. Mobile is a more logical choice than Atlanta- simply because it is probably in the top 5 oldest permanent places of worship for Catholicism in North America.

I have:

Juan Cardinal Rodriguez - Cartagena - 79 years and going strong
Felix Cardinal Romero - Havana - 75 years and going not so strong
Ignacio Cardinal Chiriboga - Quito - 68 years

I don't recall a definitive decision on additional cardinals in GC, but can make them up as required.

Guinness

Last time there was an election, the CSA had a Cardinal from New Orleans. I don't remember what he was named. Of course, in the intervening period it's entirely possible he passed on and Cardinal Toolen was elevated. It probably would still make sense for a Cardinal in the CSA to be in New Orleans though.

Carthaginian

The Catholic church of Mobile 1.) was founded before the city New Orleans, 2.) had its ecclesiastic charter granted before that of and church in New Orleans and 3.) had the first Mardi Gras celebration in North America.

Unfortunately, N.O. comes in second to Mobile on all their so-called 'claim to fame' issues except larger murder rates, population, and areas that have to pump sewage uphill to keep the place livable.

As Mobile is the 'original home' of the Archdiocese, Cardinal Toolen had the seat of the diocese moved back to its original home in Mobile when he took office. ;)

I know NUS had one in Buenos Aires, but I can't remember his name. Jefgte could search for it, or say he died and make a new one.

As to DKB, I'm working on it. I'll have 2 names soon.

80% of the country is Eastern Orthodox, the other 20% is Greek Catholic (they don't have cardinals AFAIK).

Are 3 Catholics enough to warrant a Cardinal? If so NS might need one. Don't know if the Phoenix Zoo has any either.

If Romanian Patriarchs wish to acknowledge the Primacy of Rome and a few other disagreements then they can be seated among the Cardinals.

The Likelihood of that happening is well.. Read Mike and Maddoxs posts.....
