The Netherlands hereby claim as colonies the former ACM Colonies in the South Atlantic. This include Ascension Is., St.Helena Is. and the Tristan da Cunha Island group(Tristan da Cunha,Inaccessible,Stoltenhoff,Middle and Nightinggale Islands).

OOC: They bring in atleast, I believe, 1 MBP not sure on MP will ask Maddox. The MP will be counted starting next Quarter(3Q01). The MBP WILL NOT be counted for 1 sim year(until 3Q02) to allow for the inhabitants to rebuild after the 'abuse" from former holders.

The HMS Timor has found the yatch of Tono Suratman beached on the Siamese coast just north of the Malay/Siam border. The body of Suratman and 11 others were found shot on board, the bodies of wife and children and and 3 women staff members were not found. The children, a son 10, and daughters ages 14,12 and 9, his wife 31 and their young maids are believed to have been abducted by local pirates. The yatch was badly damaged and in a sinking condition and would have sunk had it not run aground.

There were several small caliber shell holes along the waterline in an atempt to sink it. The Foriegn Affairs Office in Singapore has wired the Siamese government to request permission to conduct searches along their coast for the pirates. This is the largest attack to date from local pirates who usually attack small fishing vessels.

Were the conditions out in Asia a little more normal and the distance not as far (and if the captain not busy with more pressing matters), Rohan might have sent their own anti-piracy expert, Lord Harlock, and his ship, Eldacar, out to give the Dutch pointers and prehaps firesupport against any pirate enclaves.

Diplomatic dispatch from the Tsungli Yamen

QUOTE
In the most worthy endeavour of eradicating piracy the Middle Kingdom Navy will allow Dutch ships or ships in Dutch flotillas unhindered passage in the Gulf of Tonkin, the South China Sea and the Strait of Formosa. When needed the torpedoboats QH Zhengyang and Numbers 71-80 based in Zhanjiang may assist.
This hideous scourge must be destroyed, this has precedence over the war with New Switzerland, even more so because the pirates use this unfortunate war to do their grim business more freely.

In the halls of the Louvre

Good afternoon monsieur Palpaté.
Hello Minister to be Grange, also enjoying the beauty of the collection of art?
Yes, just a bit of an after lunch walk, to stimulate digestion. And what news brings you out here.
I, I'm also on a digestive walkabout, but my lunch consisted of ,again, news about the New Swiss. And I have to admit, Premier Jardans crackdown on our warrior DeCreme, and the very well payed traitor Rimauld is getting sour in the stomage.

Now the Dutch report piracy in the Indochinese waters, and the Middle Kingdom, never told they were stupid, did make a connection.
It gets very curious. Every time pirates are mentioned, New Swiss is hanging around in the fringes.

What can we do about that, monsieur Palpaté?
Not much except helping that blasted Middle kingdom. And that would be a very stupid move. Why must those idiots in Phoenix again interfere with our plans?

Hanoi Dutch Indochina

The body found at the Villers-Cotterêts ,Societé des dirigibles factory has been identified as being one Pierre Ving Nu of Dong Hoi. Mr Nu was 33 years old and in the employ of fromer French government and the the new Dutch government as a liason between the merchants and the government.
His Dutch passport was issued to replace his French one. He was in France for the purpose of overseeing the use of local chormate in the construction of French airships. He replaced the orginal representative at the last minute.
The investigation found the charred body of a male buried in a shallow grave behind Mr. Nu's house, believed to be the missing representive. Also found in the same grave was papers indicating Nu's as being a member of a group calling themselves the "Minh". It is beleived this is a small group advocating the killing of their French 'Masters' how this will work now that the Dutch rule is uncertain. Papers listed their plans as being to plant a bomb on the airship being built so as to explode while on it's maiden flight. It is unclear if this was the cause of the explosion or just a very bad coinicedent.
Investigators here believe less than 1000 people belong to the 'Minh'. They are looking into the names of 20 to 30 names found at Nu's house.
